"Tilting to find angle"

Just read about this in another thread: apparently you start with the blade 90 degrees against your face and then tilt it until you get the proper cutting angle. Can someone direct me to an explanation of this process or explain it more thoroughly here? How do I know when I have the right angle if I'm using this process?

Well first off is it a DE or a straight? If its a straight then its a YMMV technique since I would recommend going for about 30 degrees to start of with.

And if it's a DE with a bar then it is when the bar lightly touches your face.

Most DE's have a sweet spot around 40-45 degree angle from the surface you are shaving. It really is just about trial and error.
