Thoughts on DE razors at antique mall

I had a rough start in the DE shaving world but have grown to really enjoy it. One thing my wife and I do occasionally is look through antique malls. Now that I shave with a DE razor, when we go I always look for vintage razors. I came across these today and was just wondering if anyone had any input on them. The gold looking one was in a glass case and the silver one was labeled a travel razor. Both are Gillette and seem to be fairly old. Thanks in advance.

The one on the left is a Ball End Old Type. Very good shaver. The one on the right is a Travel Tech. Much milder.

The travel razor (besides having the baseplate flipped) is just a bit too small, kind of a novelty.

The gold plated Old-type would be a better consideration, especially if the handle isn't cracked.

Awesome, thanks a lot. The travel one was 10$ I believe and the gold on was 32$. I was thinking of going back and getting one just as a collectable. Thanks again for the input.

I'd say it depends on the pricing whether or not they are worth picking up. Some of the DFW area antique malls seem to have lost their minds while others are much more reasonable. IMO I'd avoid the travel razor altogether unless you just want one to add to a collection. These can frequently be found NOS.

I recently won an auction for a Shefield England travel razor kit, and the travel razor included looked just like the one in the picture. Mine is marked Gillette on the top,and on the bar part underneath it says made in England. I believe it is made of aluminum, unlike all my travel techs from the USA, which I believe are made of steel. (due to the weight differance. ) I have found many different travel razor configurations too. I have5or 6 still in my collection. I find that ladies love them, so I have given many away as gifts to the ladies in my family. They shave OK too.
