Thoughts from a business traveler

So first off, I am a "frequent" business traveler, meaning that I am on the road 48+ weeks a year for the last 2 years. My normal routines are to fly out on a Sunday night, stay for a week or two, and fly home Friday night. Rinse & repeat.

I know there are plenty of threads out there about how to travel with shaving gear so I'll avoid that, suffice to say that I check all my stuff anyways.

However, as I was shaving this morning I realized that the entire right side of the counter next to the sink is covered in shaving stuff. I have at least 3 aftershaves, 3 soaps, 2 creams, 2 EdC's, 3 brushes (badger, boar & synthetic), alum, styptic, DE razor, and 2 types of blades. I have an entire Dopp kit dedicated to lugging my shaving stuff around, and a separate, smaller bag for the rest of my toiletries. When I am at home and packing for my next trip, I spend an inordinate amount of time deciding which soaps/creams/AS/EdC to bring with me. I have even wrapped up my Tabac/MWF bowl in a towel to bring with me. I routinely get the "there he goes again" look from SWMBO when she walks by and I have all of my stuff laid out trying to choose.

Do any of the other travelers out there do this as well or do you have one "go to" travel set? I personally like having the choices as it brings a little bit of home to the hotel room.

WOW!! 48 weeks a year. That is a lot. I can't imagine being gone that much. I think since you travel so much you have to take the choices with you. Otherwise you would have to pick a "Scent 'f the Week" instead of a scent of the day. If you could pick one soap/cream, aftershave, brush, EdC/EdT, etc for the whole 1-2 weeks then give it a shot. Otherwise keep checking your "carry-on" suitcase that is your dopp kit!!!

I mostly fly carry on so I cannot bring along the entire shave den and therefore have a specific set of go-to's for traveling. First, for simplicity I go with shave sticks and have one from SCS, recently acquired Irisch Moos and Speick sticks, and a soon to be appearing stick of Tabac (thanks Tony). One of those and my Rooney 1/1 (fantastic face lathering machine) and I'm good to go. For A/S I use a 30z plastic bottle filled with Thayer's WH, generally go without cologne on road trips.

I also travel quite a bit, sometimes gone for months at a time. I am currently looking at a 5 razor rotation, 3 brushes, and my favorite english mug and a couple of different aftershaves, two or three different kinds of soaps. It is like a little bit of home away from home and it's my personal routine. It suits me so no one else should mind if I don't mind and if they do mind then I don't mind if they do. Shave away and remember if you are shaving it means you are still alive so you might as well get dressed and go do some good somewhere, bc

I also travel a LOT.
I have a set of stuff that stays in my travel Dopp and all of my regular stuff stays in the bathroom.
There is enough variety in my Dopp that I don't get bored, but I have enough repeat stuff that I don't miss not using anything in the Dopp when I am home.

On rare occassion, I will make a change up in my travel Dopp, but that usually occurs when I am running low on something, and not as a general rule, or change "routine".

One set up, optimised for compactness.

Dovo shavette with black and red holder.
Long blades already snapped in half so they don't look like blades on an airport scanner.
Palmolive shave stick.
Non-branded best badger travel brush.
Trumper's Lime Skin Food - sampler bottle, topped up as necessary.

I also travel a lot on business and being able to stay presentable for a week out of carry on baggage is a high priority to me.
