What's new

This just happened

I'm preparing myself for a 2014 sabbatical and since I've read a lot of praise about Calani lately I knew I would get tempted sooner or later. So today I decided to just get it out of the way and placed an order for a few soap pucks.

Darn they just released a new scent after I placed my order :glare:

Excellent choices though, you're going to enjoy the soaps very much. Here is my prep for the 2014 sabbatical:

I wanted to order even more, but I deleted a few from my cart and if I like the soap I'll order in early 2015. By then they'll probably have a few more scents to offer anyway.

4 days later and they're already here.

The included sample is a nice touch and it's actually one of the scents I wanted to order as well, but changed my mind.

Calani are some of my favorites. Great scents, and it's easy to whip up a rich, luxurious lather. Enjoy!

I've received requests to describe various scents. Keep in mind that some of Calani scents are quite complicated and I am a layman when it comes to fragrances, so I cannot provide educated descriptions of each scent. I will only comment on soaps that I lathered at least once.

Classic Havana - My favorite Calani scent. It's a smoky, fresh, and clean. It's the most well done tobacco scent I've tried, and I like it better than Tabac by a mile.

Dubai - I don't get overt Frankescence notes, rather it has sweet and citrus notes masked by something else. It's complex and my 2nd favorite Calani scent.

Gentleman - Fresh kind of like Irish Spring, hard to pin down the scent, but its not one of my favourites.

Iberian Sun - Reminds of RazoRock Don Marco / TFS neroli but with a bit more complexity. It's more orange (as opposed to orange creamsicle) and has notes of a spicier orange peel. Imagine mixing olive oil with oranges. It's a very nice scent for sure.

Highland Honey - Sweet honey overtone, mixed in with some floral notes. I think it is very pleasant, but not for everyone.

Malabar - This one is very nice. As per the description I get notes of cardamom, cinnamon, and neroli. It's very subdued and not overtly strong. It's reminiscent of those delicious Indian ice cream desserts. The scent is subtle but "full bodied" and lingers, possibly interfere with aftershave.

Tea time - Exactly like fresh green tea, but with a grassy note. It's subdued and not very strong.

Oriental Plum - Not very fruity, but the sweet note is there. It's balanced with smoky tobacco notes. Contains lanolin and is very moisturizing. The scent is subtle but "full bodied" and lingers, possibly interfere with aftershave.
