This Day In History

I thought it might be interesting to start a 'This Day In History" thread on B&B.

On this day in history, June 2, 1975, the first recorded June snowfall in London, England.

Feel free to add, comment, and/or post tomorrow another unique event in the B&B "This Day In History" thread.

Thanks Edgar. I hope it gains traction and the members enjoy it. I was thinking Famous Birthdays and the like could be included.

That's great. Absolutely. Musical milestones are an excellent idea.

1763 - Pontiac's Rebellion: At what is now Mackinaw City, Michigan, Chippewas capture Fort Michilimackinac by diverting the garrison's attention with a game of lacrosse, then chasing a ball into the fort.

cleanshaved

I’m stumped
1936 - Colin 'Pinetree' Meads born.
He was a NZ All Black player and would be our equivalent of Babe Ruth in stature.

1665 – James Stuart, Duke of York (later to become King James II of England), defeats the Dutch fleet off the coast of Lowestoft.

The war would be won by the Netherlands. But it was soon followed by the 3rd war at sea, and that (plus internal political struggles) would prove too much for the country. I think the 3rd sea war marked the end of the Netherlands as a world power (but decline had started already much earlier).
