Hello Gentlemen. From the time I started DE shaving almost a year ago, I have used vintage razors. I'm not really sure if I'm missing anything having not used any modern DEs. Currently my razor of choice is a 40s SS which I absolutely think is one of the best things since... well maybe a NEW. So perhaps you could answer that question: am I missing anything? Second, I recently visited my local antique shops and found their prices a little too high. (They had a 40s SS marked for approximately $50, and a Fatboy at the same price. The SS was missing tons of plating and was well below user grade.) Slightly put off by the astronomical prices, I turned to eBay to see what they had in store for me. I will admit that the prices were better, but certainly not what they were when I got started with my SS and travel tech, each for $10. This got me to thinking that perhaps my small collection of razors (4 SEs and 4 DEs) might be worth something. Worry soon followed that perhaps I was hurting these precious GEMs by using them! (I know I have a problem, but don't we all?) So I was thinking I might try something new, like a Merkur or a Parker, or really anything that really is a good quality razor for a good price. (Nothing too expensive now. My price range is virtually anything below $40.) Simply put I am looking for something new that is comparable to my 40s SS, at a decent price, unless someone can convince me that I'm going insane and am not hurting my razors. Thank you in advance for your responses.
