What's new

Thinking about my first shave with my toggle...

I aquired a toggle a couplke of weeks ago, but have been too busy to shave with it. I have been working seven days a week, and want to be able to take my time with it, and enjoy myself. I'm thinking this saturday, if I have it off.

I was thinking that i would go with, a feather, and some Penhaligons, English Fern, and Pitralion for an after shave.

This razor is soo nice that i almost want to buy another one just to shave with.

Yo - if you can't find the time on Saturday, and are feeling pressed with other obligations, I can give it the test run for you!!! Just ship her out and I can give it a trial and post the results for you to read!! You could probably do that at work or just before! What do ya think??

Just let me know. I don't mind - really! That's why we are here after all!

I couldnt wait until tomorrow morning. I didn't shave this morning, and had to tonight, and just couldnt help myself.

What a great razor! Absolutley beautiful.

I used Penhilagon's English Fern, a Feather Blade, Thayers non scented, and alcohol free witch hazel, and Prorarso after shave splash.

It was a truly remarkable experience!

Sounds like a right fine set up for your first Toggle shave. If you think it's to nice to shave with and want to buy another one to shave with, do it.... I have done that so many times with my razors I can't count them anymore.
Enjoy the shave, which every way you choose to go.

I could feel the anticipation building just reading through this thread. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has given in to the urge to go ahead and shave the night before rather than wait until the next morning. I'll bet you tried to peek at your Christmas presents before Christmas morning when you were a kid, too? Nice post!

My first Toggle did not adjust.:frown: But now I have a working Toggle shaver and a near NOS to look at!!

I thought about bidding on the toggle that you won. I knew it was going to go for over 300, and I had just bought one a week earlier.

Funny, the last two weeks there have been 5 or 6 toggles on the bay.

Can Shave tomorrow morning even know I don't have any whiskers?

Toggle,Schmoggle.:rolleyes:The rarer the Gillette, the lesser the shaver it is.:biggrin:That's why they're rare, because nobody wanted them:rolleyes: Get a Gem and enjoy a real shave.:tongue_sm:tongue_sm

That's exactly what I did. I have one that's darn near perfect. I just like to look at it and shine it up on occasion. I found another that looks great, but its completely frozen on the #4 setting. I use this razor all the time and it's one of my favorites.

You have to try the Toggle. It's a great razor.

Actually I totally disagree!

This razor has to be one of the best shavers out there. The closeness I felt with it in my hand, the total balance of it, and the way it felt as I skimmed it across my face. Absolute perfection between Lather and Blade.

Maybe alot of these rare gilletts are rare not because nobody wanted them, but because they got all used up when they were in abundance.

Or because they were priced out of the market originally. If it was a cash-cow, they'd still make it.

I think the death of the toggle was the complex mechanism making it difficult to manufacture, plus the trend over the next two decades of using lighter, less expensive materials on the razor. The move towards the disposable razor had its beginnings decades earlier, IMHO.
