What's new

There’s one Glock model that I would like to buy…

Why does Colorado not understand Magazine Capacity is not a big deal, the ability to shoot accurately is a big deal.

Having seen Rob Leathum World Class Pistol shoot do his thing in local IPSC, and PPC Matches. He is not hindered by magazine capacity, he is shooting machine.

But it’s restricted here in Colorado. With original Factory 17 Rounders.

Glock 34! The Glock 17’s are all restricted here too. But the 34 is so sweet! 😉

Until all the dust settles, just carry more 10 rounders and practice your reloads.

Can you buy the gun with 10 round mags or do they outlaw by model there. It's hard to imagine you guys are next door to us (Utah) and not Kalifornia.

Makes sense, but here in Colorado, unfortunately it’ll never happen. We’re looking at locations to move to in both Colorado and out of state. If the latter… with no restrictions, I’ll buy the 34, if in Colorado, we’ll continue with our 19’s, Gen 3 and 5 MOS. I’m just beotching at the restrictions here in Colorado. 😉

I’m in Colorado and bought my M&P 2.0 with 2 16 round mags from a gunshop.

I did however buy all 10 round mags for my IWI Travor

If you did this before the law went into effect, you’d be grandfathered. If not, well… that should not have occurred, legally.

On the magazine capacity.

Been there and still got the magazines.

Honestly when we went through the magazine capacity restrictions last time there was all the same weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth but quite honestly I found no real impact on my shooting experience. It really is a perception rather than factual issue. Is the limitations a stupid idea that would have no real impact on safety? Sure. Is it the same as confiscation or have some effect on my level of protection? Nope.

I still try to keep at least one ten round magazine for all the pistols that have higher capacity ones and regularly train with them to make sure springs are still springing. I will still feel as well protected if they once again imposed a ten round limit.

And I also still practice blind reloads with my speed loaders and wheelies.

Formula for a 19-34:
  • Polymer 80 or similar 80% G19 frame
  • 34 length Gen 3 slide (your choice, mine is SS with fine forward serrations)
  • LWD 19 longslide slide spacer (LWD says to use their extended, non-captured guide rod, which works, but I went with a captive 19 length rod and turned down a NDZ guide rod adapter and inverted it to make a spacer)
Sights & whippy-schnizzle of your choice.

LWD slide adapter
LWD extended guide rod for use with adapters
NDZ gen 3 to 5 guide rod adapter

For the guide rod adapter: Take a bolt with a head large enough to fit into the recess of the adapter, and lock it in place with a nut. Chuck the bolt in a drill or drill press (ideally), and use a handfile to remove the outer shoulder of the adapter. You will likely have to dust off a bit more to get it to fit into the LWD slide spacer. You want a captive guide rod with a removeable retaining bolt on the nose. Remove the bolt and place it so that it is seated inside the guide rod adapter (countersunk), and reassemble your guide rod. This provides the fractional spacing to properly seat the shorter guide rod in the extended slide assembly. At the time of my build, you could not simply use a 17/34 guide rod because of the differing shoulder dimensions between the Gen 3 19 and 34.

Obviously, if you like the 17 grip size more, this isn't optimal, but I greatly prefer the 19, so it was an obvious choice for me.😎

A little less pain losing only 5 rounds, instead of 7...?

What about the 17L? That thing is goofy and cool at the same time. Always reminded me about the Batman movie where Joker pulls that long barreled revolver out of his pants.

Appreciate all the thoughts! I don’t know if folks know of all the proposed Colorado firearm restrictions currently, many are completely draconian for law abiding 2A permit holders. These proposed laws come directly from California being led here by two very Marxist Socialist radical Dems. With both State Legislative Houses and the Executive Branch all controlled by Dems, this has been a freedom of 2A choice here with attacks from the left increasing to a potential release of more restrictive gun laws.

They want to abolish AR15 ‘models’ with 250K to 500K fines for possession, new 11% tax on ammo and firearms, more restrictions on shotguns, mandatory liability insurance for permit holders, more class time and more additional costs for permits, and more restrictions that are being discussed.

Decreasing standard mag capacities in this time of increased crime here in Denver and Colorado makes no sense at all. We’re down to 15 in Colorado, 10 in some locations. Many 2A law abiding aficionados are concerned that this only the furthering of restrictions begun in 2013.

Yeah, my long time desire of the Glock 34 with full 17 round capacity is simply a beotching against what’s being proposed. I carry a 7+1 1911, or an Sig 10+1 365 or a Glock 19, 15+1. There’s a very strong possibility that future restrictions would cap out at seven rounds. Who knows?

At least , I’m ‘covered’ for now. 😉

Beacuse they don’t want us to have guns. So they intend on putting burdensome laws in place every step of the way.

If we want to overturn those laws we have to sue the state. Then, we not only have to pay for our lawyers but we also pay for the state’s lawyers who are paid a state salary.

The process is the punishment if the law is overturned.

And that’s they exact same way anti gunners think. Yet I agree about accuracy, the same can be said about Jerry Miculek, look how fast and accurate he is with a revolver, no one needs a semi auto, right? (Sarcasm)

The truth is Laws do not work unless additional enforcement is funded to enforce.

The other truth is Law abiding people obey laws, Criminals do not.

I can think of three places two being States, Illinois & California, and the other NYC. Thought firearm laws, joke is & sad, they have crimes involving firearms daily.

No restrictions on the models, just the standard capacity mags.

With a one party government they want to be East CA.

Give an inch, they take a mile. That is why I am against any and all "gun control" laws. It only impacts lawful gun owners. It seems that I read about illegal firearms being taken from criminals every days here in NY, where we have an abundance of restrictions.
