Theirs Issard Awesome!

Just got my Thiers Issard Best Silvertip 26mm in Black Horn...

http://www.rasurpur.de/english/shop/brushes/brushes.html

Absolutely the best brush I have... and that includes a number of Simpsons, Rooneys, Heritages, Plisson High Mountain Badgers, etc...

An impressive bloom dense with ridiculously soft tips. Really nothing else even comes close honestly. This would definitely be my desert island brush and I am considering selling off all my other brushes now it is that good. Just wow!

:w00t:

Nice! Good to know! I'm going to France in the fall and need to gather info on what's available over there.

Thiers Issard brush it is!

+1 I couldn't agree more. Can't believe that these brushes don't get more recognition. I also have the 26mm in black horn and the 23mm in Desert Ironwood. I will never part with either and am even thinking about getting the horn as well.

Yes!!!

I have the 26mm in blonde horn and used it this morning. The brush is awesome, a real do anything brush. I prefer to face lather, and this beauty is superb from that standpoint. But I think it would be equally good at whipping it up in a bowl.

The knot is like no other in my den. It is 3-band Silvertip in a fan shaped, densely packed knot. What sets it apart is the backbone or springiness of the hair, combined with the soft tips. Comparisons between TI and Rooney brushes have been made, but this hair is different than the Rooney Super or Rooney 3-band Heritage I have used. This is one brush I do not plan to let go.

I got mine through Thiers-Issard.co Uk. They were very good. Steve Dempster responded promptly to a couple of questions. They shipped quickly and I was surprised how soon I got my brush. I would definitely use them again.

They're at the pricier end of the spectrum so I'm really not surprised. Recognition doesn't really matter to me as much as how well the product works for me. That said, the TI's sound like what I'm looking for in a brush and I'll seriously consider one of my next purchase.

I would like to get a French brush to accompany my TI straights. How do the TI brushes compare to Plisson in terms of overall value and performance? Anyone have both?

the Rasurpur website mentioned about Thiers Issard stopped production? These brushes no longer in production?

What is the loft on the 26mm knot?

Edit: Nevermind, I did the math from the information on the website. Overall length of 115mm and handle length of 60mm equals a 55mm loft.

I couldn't help it. I placed my order for the 26mm knot with the tall desert ironwood handle. I've always liked the look of the desert ironwood and other than my Semogue SOC boar brush, I don't have any other wood handle brushes in my stable..... so this one will fit in nicely. To hear this review of the hair and knot, and to see the dimensions of the brush.... I'm hooked. The only hitch is that after I placed my order from here:

http://www.thiers-issard.co.uk/thiers-issardshavingbrushes.html

I realized that they are on holiday over there and won't be shipping for another week. Which means that I need to be patient. :cursing: SBAD and patience go hand in hand.

I've come to find that as I work my way through my SBAD, that I enjoy variety. My collection reflects that. I suppose with Thiers Issard brushes it is easier to make an argument that you only need one of them..... as opposed to the variety offered by Simpson, M&F, Rooney, and of course Shavemac. But while this brush had caught my eye in the past, it was never on my "must buy" list along with the Simpson Chubby 2 Two Band Super and the Thater 4125/2 Two Band Super Bulb for instance. I just saw this post and took a look at the website and the dimensions of the brush and thought to myself: "that will fit in very nicely and offer me a little more variety.... and it looks damn nice too!"

The wait begins.

The desert ironwood is a treat especially if you get a burly one. I had been eyeing these as well and I don't have any wood badgers. Ordered a 23 mm from Fendrihan last night. Usually only one day, two at worst to receive. Price from the UK is better, but only if our customs don't engage. Always hit and miss.

In regard to the talk that these brushes are being discontinued, does anyone have any further information? Also anyone with both a 23 and 26 mm that can add more to the thread?

Hope your week flies by Ben. It will be worth the wait.

I ordered from Martin at http://www.rasurpur.de/english/shop/shop.html last week. It arrived in six days, and they threw in a small holder and some gummy bears! Although now that I have seen the 23mm black super badger, I'm kinda wishing I had picked up the blonde or the desert ironwood. Nonetheless, it looks like a very nice brush and I'm looking forward to trying it out.

Received a 23mm ironwood in super badger today. Very well turned handle and the knot is utterly perfect. Don't normally do any break in routine but lathered it up to see the bloom. Outstanding. The wood by the way, is better looking than what they show on line. That is a nice change. Test run in the morning but all looks very good. Ironwood is the only wood badger that has tempted me and this is also my first TI brush. It looks to be worth the going price.

My 26mm ironwood is supposed to ship out tomorrow (very soon). Sounds great guys. I love good reports when I have one on the way  .

Received my 26mm desert ironwood today! Great service. These guys http://www.thiers-issard.co.uk/index.html shipped it out of the UK on Tuesday and I received it in Ohio today (Friday). The knot is just beautiful. The density is similar to a Simpson I would say, but not as dense as my Rooney Heritage Stubby 1XL two band. Just a perfectly shaped fan knot. The handle is glorious desert ironwood and feels great in my hand. Nice and sturdy and strong. This brush feels like a keeper and I haven't even used it. The tips are as soft as any brush I own. Can't wait to try it out tonight!!

Thanks to the OP of this thread for steering me toward this brush!!
