The "which brush should I buy?" thread

Here is the deal. I currently use a Penworks 20mm finest. I love the brush but I'd like to try something different. I want to try a boar brush, but I don't want to break the bank ($20 or under) in case I don't like it.

I primarily use soaps and I like to face lather so those are a couple things to keep in mind. I have a Semogue 1305 coming my way but I won't be receiving it for another 2 weeks. Any suggestions on what I should buy? Let me know if there is any other info I can provide. Thanks.

Sounds like an Omega or a Boreal might be in your future. So many to choose from for under $20. Shoebox Shaveshop will probably come around as a recommendation. They seem to have quite a selection of boar.

That's what I was thinking, but trying another brush isn't going to set me back too much!

You can pick up an omega brush at shoppers drug mart in Canada. They're like, 16 dollars. I've had mine for about a year and it shows no sign of deterioration. Works like a charm. I greatly prefer boar brushes to badger brushes. They're great with hard soaps!

Got one 3 weeks ago and have been using it ever since with soaps & creams to great effect instead of my more expensive brushes.

If you like a tightly packed brush with minimum "bloom", this could be ideal.

Havent tried the shaving cream sample that comes with it yet.

You wont be disappointed.
