The taste of styptic

If you ever wanted to know what styptic tastes like, I can tell you - kind of like crushed up aspirin. How do I know you may ask?? This morning I was shaving with my fatboy (set at 5, I usually set it at 3) and a feather blade and I was getting the old upper lip area. My wife was asking me a question and I was distracted for just a second and I SLICED the tip of my upper lip open, and I mean WIDE open. I could not get this sucker to stop bleeding, I tried alum, I tried New Skin to no avail. So I grabbed my styptic pencil and got it wet and rubbed it on the cut and boy did it sting!! The stytpic didn't stop the bleeding either - and I used SO much of it that I got quite a bit of liquefied styptic right in my mouth. Not a great shave.

Damn, that had to smart a bit. I can sympathize though, because I get frequent canker sores and I use alum on them all the time. I also use powdered alum as a shaving stypic too, although it definitely is not as effective as a stypic block.

BC is awesome.....

I tasted my styptic pencil just because I wondered what it would taste like..... Crushed asprin is a pretty good description.... Then,, there is also that weird bitter dry feeling that it gives your tongue....

I wouldn't recommend it as a food additive.....

Ahh, yes...some prefer crushed styptic pencils, some prefer aspirin... I, prefer just a whisper of prescription meds that get stuck on my tongue and refuse to go down before they start to dissolve!
