The Star Wars Holiday Special

Dave, you can just stream it from that YouTube link, I think. Says it's an hour 38. I assume it's all there...

I pulled it up on my tv on YouTube to get a bigger picture. Apparently there's several links to choose from, one of which still the commercial breaks included.
I stopped watching after the scene where Chewbaccas son watched the hologram of a circus act. The 70's made us what nailed the lid on the coffin for me, and I enjoy listening to Jeff Wayne's Musicalm Version of The War of the Worlds.
I did skim through a little more and have to say the Mark Hammel was wearing way to much makeup and his hairstylist should be ashamed!

I chose the one with the commercials. I never tried acid, honestly!, but those Teletubbie outfits and the holographic thing the son was watching had me having flashbacks.

I got moves like Jagger
You guys can do it! Even if it takes numerous visits to nibble away at it rather than one ungodly feast of poorly seasoned and undercooked roast beast, I have faith in you all :letterk1:

You've missed so much! You probably missed watching the dad watch VR softcore porn or the 6-armed Julia Childs-esque cooking segment, and you certainly didn't even learn about the Tree of Life!
I'm pretty sure I watched the first part of Harvey Korhman? in drag and a green/brown face. I looked for extra arms, and when I didn't see them I gave up. As I said elsewhere, in referring to my posts about Derby blades and a dog retuning to his vomit, I will probably return to this and watch it to completion before Christmas.

I'M NO QUITTER!

You have inspired me my friend! Pop the corn honey! I'll sit next to you on the couch Mrs. Tanned Farmer!

I’ve watched it twice.

First time when it first aired. I too was 7 and absolutely loved everything Star Wars. l actually remember liking it but remember my older cousins groaning the entire time.

Second time as a Rifftrax (some of the same folks that did Mystery Science Theater 3000). Even with their jokes it was hard to watch and their jokes have made some pretty unbearable movies watchable.

As with every dumb little sideshow in this special, the cooking segment is LONG. I think it takes a bit for the extra arms to come up. And also like every dumb sideshow, the idea that people actually made it is far more entertaining than the actual bit itself.

Yes....well put. And I survived the seventies, so I suppose I should just man up and watch it. I listened to "Coast to Coast AM" last night and they had a great segment of the Comiskey Park destruction of disco albums. I watched it live. I think they said it was July 12, 1979. I'm a Michigander, so as I recall, the Tigers were playing the White Sox. The host and guest talked about how it was kind of the death of disco. I do think my generation had the best music. (Lol, EVERY generation thinks that.) I think somewhere I still have the soundtrack to "Saturday Night Fever." Not a bad song on it. I learned last night that album is the second highest double album set ever, and the highest selling soundtrack. We were one MESSED UP GENERATION, but we sure had a wide variety of good enough music.

Apparently Mark Hammel had so much makeup because they were hiding the fact the he was recovering from a bad car accident. No excuses for the hair.

my favorite bit was Bea Arthur’s musical number in the bar. It was like an episode of The Muppet Show.

Now I HAVE to finish it!

Well, I have done acid, and while I saw some strange stuff, nothing I saw while tripping compares to the SWHS. I saw it 1 time, and that was the live broadcast.
As for the Teletubbies, someone is going to roast in the underworld for eternity for unleashing that abomination on the world.
the SWHS is about a hour and some of really bad acting.. the Teletubbies have far more....
I'm glad my daughter never was interested in them.
She was into Elmo, the dinosaur show (Not the mama), and Blues Clues.. well, my ex was into Blues Clues, as were many other moms with small kids while Steve was the 'host'.
