The Skinny on The Fat

The first one is shaving soap, in a puck, made more for cushion and glide and less for cleansing.

The second one is bath soap, in a bar, made for getting yourself clean in the bath or shower.

One is a bath soap, the other is shaving soap.

Yeah but...so what? What's the difference when it comes to MWF? I can get a good lather from a bar of Dial, but that's dumb. This is the Fat so wouldn't it be the same?

Heck, if it makes you happy, go ahead and get the bath soap and enjoy it as you wish! There are no rules. Me, I prefer shaving soap.

I can see the possibility for believing they are interchangable based on the product descriptions that both cite Mitchell's original formula. I'd be interested in any conclusions that face might have if he should decide to test his theory. At the worst he would have three bars of really nice bath soap. At the best he'd have just over a pound of MWF at a significant discount. Go for it face and give us the skinney when you're done.

I've used the shower soap for its intended purpose and I really enjoy it.

Why not try it to quench your curiosity then relegate it to the shower once you've scratched your itch?

I have both. I haven't tried lathering with the bath soap, but it is slick in the shower. They definitely are NOT the same. Even the scents are different. To me, the bath soap smells like it has dairy notes to it(think very mild cheese), compared to MWF shaving soap that is fresh and clean.

Why would you assume that two different soaps, made for different purposes, would be interchangeable just because they're made by the same company? Even if they have a similar ingredient list, they'll be designed to lather differently.

If I had assumed they were the same, would I have started the thread?
