The Sixteenth Annual One Blade in February Challenge

Last night’s cap-riding shave
RazoRock Game Changer 0.68OC on PAA el Fantasma handle
Cloud Bruce Lee (2)
Damp facecloth aka “shave binky”
AP ShaveCo Black and Butterscotch Pure Bliss 22mm synthetic brush
Pre-shave: warm shower :001_wub:
Lather: Wee Babby savon à raser, face-lathered
Aftershave: Olm Nom
Post-shave: face wash with shave binky and a drop of hyaluronic acid and a drop of glycerin
Post-shave: Equate moisturizer

Pressure got away from me while trying to chase whiskers on a tricky contour of my jawline. Less bleeding than expected, so yay? Will probably stop mauling myself from here on out. Put on too much glycerin after the shave, too, and put my regular moisturizer over it anyways. Skin feels great this morning.

One Blade In February Challenge #11

Razor:
Muhle Rocca R94
Blade: Personna Platinum (11)
Brush: Simpsons Trafalgar T3
Soap: Stirling Sharp Dressed Man
Post Shave: Nivea Hyaluron Creme
A/S: Davidoff Cool Water

Tonight I kept using the Rocca after it's improved efficiency shaving me last night. I also switched up the brush for to the Trafalgar T3 as it is a 26mm brush and much more capable of getting through soap than the 24mm Yaqi. The end result was a much closer shave than the R89 was delivering, even without a clean-up pass.

Shave #6 - Kai Super Stainless
R89 Clone
Proraso Green Creme

This was a pretty great shave. I'm reminded that even humble gear can soar highly in performance. Two passes, a DFS+ for sure. I'm certain a BBS would have been achieved today if I had gone a third, but no need to overdo it. A very peaceful, meditative session that helped center me for my workday.

These mornings are the reason why I have latched onto wet shaving as a hobby.

Reduced pressure. More comfortable, but less close due to either lackluster prep or lather not being hydrated enough. Less comfortable the next day. No blood, though.

Razor: English Gillette Flare Tip Rocket c.1958-61
Blade: Personna Platinum Chrome (ISR #18)

Used the English Rocket tonight, a wonderfully efficient and smooth shaver with beautiful build quality and timeless cool looks.

The blade is still cutting fine and a smooth edge. No vices at all.

Fantastic shave!

Still In, shave #5

I'm not sure that I'm going to make it through the One Blade in February Challenge.

Did a midnight shave before I went to bed, and it essentially took four passes to get a DFS. Admittedly, was really riding the cap, but there was a little more sense of "tugging" than I like. No real burn or nicks, but I've had a policy with Nacets that I'll use them as long as they feel good, but any time they start acting up after the 4th use, I'll be fine to bin them.

I'll give this blade one more chance Friday morning, but anything but a DFS with 3 legit passes, I'm going to have to drop out of being technically in the OBIFC, and just focusing on rules #1, #4 & #5

Razor: Yates Winning Titanium
Blade: Nacet(6)
Brush: Simpson Colonel X2L Best Badger

Another good shave on the books with this line-up similar result to last night until afterwards when I noticed I had a tiny rough patch on one side of my neck. I can only put this down to user error as it is only one side. So I should have taken it a bit easier to make sure everywhere was left smooth.

I am curious Simon @Alum Ladd - does the Rocket shave similar to your Aristocrat Jr? Both have the same patent number I believe so I was just wondering if they then share the same head - I.e. no difference in shave…(asking for a friend with RAD obviously! Haha!). This “friend” managed to dodge a bullet with a Gillette Ranger Tech on BST.

English Rocket ..., a wonderfully efficient and smooth shaver with beautiful build quality and timeless cool looks.
I love the look of these flare-tipped English Rockets. Alas, they are virtually impossible to find on this side of the pond. Not complaining because we have access to plenty here. Just sayin'

I do have a few of the other English TTO razors, and I love every one of them.
