The Scotch Fairy & Balvinie Doublewood

The scotch Fairy visited me again tonight, and dropped off a bottle of The Balvenie Doublewood. Can any of your scotch aficionados tell me anything about it?

It tastes like 10 day old dog water. Not the dog water you keep in side but the bowl that is kept in the sun and has a green tint to it.

PM me and I'll tell you where to send it so that it can be disposed as following strict EPA rules.

It's a fine malt indeed. It starts it's life out like any other Balvenie and then is transferred to first fill European sherry casks. A lovely every day malt. Nice score!

Once of the nicer drams for the money. I consider the BDW one of nicer Scotches in my collection. It's a fine mix of peat, sweetness and wood tannins, with a nice long finish.

It is a extremely wonderful single malt. I prefer it over some 15 and 17 yr whisky.

Everyday I ask myself why I don't have a bottle in my cabinet.

Have to draw a line somewhere. 9 bottles is my current line. Maybe once I finish a bottle I'll replace it with this fine whisky.

I wish I had your control. I've just about smacked down my various shaving related acquisition disorders over the last three years here. Now the only things that willpower fades me on are whiskey and chocolate chip cookies.

For the whiskey I'll paraphrase and say...if it's wrong then I don't want to be right.

On chocolate chip cookies...it's terminal. There is no cure.
