The Scandal Sheet: Straights and other stuff

F.W. Söderén was up today. It was a great shave although it did give me a little love-bite next to my ear. Turns out even a "can't cut you" edge will leave a red line if you roll it into your face. No permanent harm done, not even any pink lather out of the deal. Went with Beeswax again today. It's very dry here lately, both indoors and out, and I can manage the hydration better on this soap I think, where some others might end up drying out on me or just getting too thinned out. Anyway, I remember why I love this stuff, besides great shave performance it leaves my skin feeling just right. New LC and GSB was nice and smooth again, maybe a touch less close today. That's fine, on to a different blade tomorrow. Finished with the Veg again.

Be well, everyone.

This made me think of this. Although in feral cats that means that they are fixed.

Pulled out the other Eiko today and was rewarded with a nice shave. Stuck with Beeswax again for the soap. The Semogue/RV brush felt a little "meh" today but it only had a few minutes to soak. Still, it got the job done. Loaded a new Durasharp into the New LC and that was delightful. Finished with Bignoli Agrumi di Mediterraneo and Stirling Island Man EDT. More of a summer combo but it's still warmish here so why not.

Traffic was abysmal today, could have started the Ring Cycle and gotten a fair way through it but I wasn't in the mood for music.

All this talk about Milton, and the poetry hijinks in another journal, has me thinking I should read Paradise Lost again. I really enjoy that poem.

Be well, everyone.

Feon 68 today. Can't say enough good things about this razor. The problem with a "rotation" is that the favorites don't come around as often as I'd like. But, I took the time to enjoy it today and still managed to leave the house early. Celebrating another warm day with MdC Agrumes. New LC/Durasharp did the minimal cleanup. Finished with Myrsol Limon.

Be well.

Hoshi Tombo was up for Frameback Friday. Definitely my favorite frameback. Whipped up some Proraso Red with the Oumo. All went very well. I changed things up a bit for the cleanup pass. Moved the Durasharp I've been using into the R41 and loaded a 7 Day Platinum into the New LC. Even with a slightly tired blade the R41 is definitely a little more capable. Although the 7 Day in that New is a winning combination for sure.

Ordered some more Proraso Red preshave and the splash as well as I'm getting low on both and it's coming up to the time of year where I use all the Red line more frequently. Threw in 300 more Durasharps.

I see there is a stainless R41 on the BST. I'm tempted. I mean, I already have a backup head in chrome, but I like that razor well enough that it might be worth having one that will outlast me.

Listened to Simon and Garfunkel's Wednesday Morning 3 AM today. This is one of my favorite albums in any genre. Not sure why I don't listen to it more often.

Be well.

Getting to the end of the rotation, I have two left after today although there are a handful that aren't really on the main roster that I still like to call up once in a while. Today was my Shell. This one seems better every time I use it. Mühle Sea Buckthorn was the soap and the Vielong delivered an absolutely perfect lather. Cleanup, I went back to the R41 with yesterday's 7 Day. It was an astonishingly close shave today. No hints of blood but the Veg gave me some extra sting today.

I need to go get a drain snake. I'm pretty sure I had a couple at one point but they may have disappeared in multiple moves and several years of renting. The downstairs shower needs some attention. I pull the hair clogs out from time to time with a plastic zip snake but I think this time it's just buildup. Anyway. Fun.

Got my new specs yesterday and getting used to the bifocal/progressive lenses. So far I love them although shaving is a little fuzzy when I lift my chin to do my neck, since I'm looking through the wrong part at that point. I grabbed my old glasses and it went better so I'll probably keep them in the bathroom for that purpose.

Be well.

Not made for these times.
