I was getting tired of razor burn on my lower neck area with that redness and those ugly bumps, so I dropped back to a one-pass shave. I mainly went WTG and got a CCS and was happy with no burn.
I used my GEM Damaskeene 1912 with an SS blade and Mystic Water soap lather worked by a Vie-Long horse hair brush. I focused on good prep using Proraso Pre Shave and hot towel soaks. I got nice whisker removal and, of course, it was done quickly.
I was remembering that I never did multiple passes (except touch-up) until I joined B&B. Even back in the old days when I used an SE or Schick Injector, I only did one pass. This one-pass routine continued when I went to Mach 3 cartridges. If I shave daily, one-pass shaves offer a CCS and no lingering pain. (I should mention that, for many years, I had a full beard and mainly shaved my neck area.)
I don't know how other razors will serve me with just the one pass, but I'll experiment with the certainty that my Dam will work when needed.
If and when I figure out how to eliminate razor burn with multiple passes, I'll return to at least a two-pass routine.
