The REAL Wilkinson blade

I first used the old British Wilkinson Sword blades back in the mid 60's.It was my second favorite.Gillette "blue" blades were my first choice.I have the German Walmart Wilkinsons in my regular rotation , but they are among my least favorite, just above Dorco.I get 2 mediocre shaves ,then dump them.Enter Wilkinson from Brazil ! This is a revelation of blades ,super smooth, forgiving, problem free and tough to get in North America.I completed my 5th shave today.I can get one more, but it will not be as smooth as the first 5, I could feel the wear on the blade during shave 5,but still,a shave without any tugging or pulling !.This blade is packed in the traditional Wilkinson wrapper, with generous globs of wax on the blade.I would like to see the sides numbered, but this is a nit-pik....I can say for sure, this is one of the finest blades I have ever used, and if I ever get to Brazil,I will bring back several cards of 100's.

Pardon me if this is blade geekery run amok, but...

The glue/wax dots remind me of the St. Petersburg factory.
I also see P&G on the label.
Now, what could the "PPIM" on the blade mean?
Might this indicate Petersburg Products?

Not sure of the PPIM mark, but I will try to find out. These are made in Brazil for sure, many people know the factory and people that work there.

PPIM is an acronym for PRODUZIDO NO PÓLO INDUSTRIAL DE MANAUS. They are made in Manaus by P&G, the parent company of Gillette. The blade graphics are interesting because the three diagonal lines date back to at least the early 1970s when Wilkinson Sword introduced the first of its tri-coated blades. I have no idea if Wilkinson Sword ever built a plant down in Brazil.

Yes...Manhaus Brasil.....maybe it was Wilkinson before P&G took over ?? no matter,Gillette is doing a fine job on these blades, they must have been a better seller than the Gillette Azuls, otherwise P&G would not have discontinued them.

I am still actively looking for the Brazilian made Gillette super thins. Seems the made in Brazil blades are almost imposable to find outside of central and south america.

Now I have another blade to look for "down south"

Let us know if any of the South American vendors will ship internationally...

If you do not mind me responding to a question meant for another member, T.H.M. Distribuidora ships internationally based on their shipping options. The price for 60 is something in the range of $7.00. There is a form to fill out that is in Brazilian Portuguese, but I think it is fairly logical. http://thmdistribuidora.com/loja2/

This post reminds me that I have heard nothing but good about these blades. I wonder if the Falcon brand by Wilkinson Sword Brazil was produced in the same factory.

Great site !....I think the blue lazers may be Chinese...the Lamix are so-so..I would like to try a few of the others...great prices...

Yes, their prices are quite good. I am not sure if they will be able to fill my order because they have to calculate the shipping, and I am not sure if their payment options will work for me. I have asked them to send me an invoice.

Let us know how you make out ...even 10 full cards don't weigh that much. The Lords are easy to find, the others are not.

No luck, they sent me a garbled message that said they would need a day to send my order and have it billed behind the Brazilian bank in the USA. This almost sounds like they're either needing a letter of credit or a bank check. Anyway, they sent that message on Friday and I have not heard back from them. I think I will cancel the order.
