The real J.A.Henckels "Twin" Works

I don't have a funny description.
Hmm... are those two Merkur 34 lying there?

Not quite. This other "twin" is a J.A.Henckels Twin Works razor.

The head shape is different and the shave is more aggressive.

Hmm...

Awesome, was it replated?

Wonder if EclipseRedRing has his?

Anyone who the history of these? Pre war made by Herkenrath, post war made by Merkur? (a bit like Walbuschs maybe)

I do. The Henso was one of the first razors I acquired and after a while I began to find it too mild. I then used it for several months with a vintage Petard shim which is 0.7mm thick and which made the Henso a lot more aggressive. Eventually it fell out of favour and I put it away in the 'possibly for sale' drawer. It was not used for about a year but recently I used it again. To my surprise I got a better shave than I remember from before, even without a shim. It is still mild but with good prep, attention to shaving angle, and a bit of buffing it is fun to use. Funny how things can change like that when you revisit them 👍

@creamgravy

No, it wasn't replated.
Maybe I am imagining it is more aggressive than the Merkur... I don't know, maybe, but it seems so. Not by much, but still. Placebo or something, lol.

^ It looks mint, nice score!

Seems like they were made over a long period, yours could've be made between the 80s and early 2000s (after chrome replace silver handles on these white lable and custom Merkurs)

Henckels are currently selling a DE89 type :thumbup1:

Tried it again versus the Merkur 34. Yep, the Henckels is more aggressive and efficient. Not quite the same. I like it.
