So searching for a pipe last night, I found myself on meerschaum.com, and purchased a pipe ($52) before i researched the site.. STUPID. It seems the quality is hit or miss (at best) from this vendor. I think I will le the pipe arrive and hope for the best ..

All of you please keep your fingers crossed for me.

Well according to Ups it should be here any minute, so we'll see. They shipped it so quickly that I figured I would have to look at it and research their return policy. That said, not sure I would know what to look for. Any ideas quick pointers?

This may just end up being a lesson in internet shopping restraint, and maybe pipe quality.

I will likely be burning a bowl of something in it this afternoon.

Look for obvious cracks, defects and the like. You can also test to see if it's real block meerschaum. Lick the inside of the bowl, if your tongue sticks to it, it's real block. The site looks to have a pretty straight forward return policy. If you don't want to experiment with the pipe at all, looks like you can send it back and only be out S&H charges.

well it is here. I do nto see any defects, and my tounge definitly stuck in side. (Kind of a wierd feeling )

it all LOOKs fine, so I will take a chance and spark it up.

Came with a very nice pipe case.

I'd recommend running a damp pipe cleaner through it before smoking the first time to clean out any dust leftover from manufacturing. Looks pretty nice!

That doesn't look too bad, at all. Let us know how things go. If worse comes to worst, you could always send it someone who can convert it to a push tenon and open up the draw.

Can you post a side profile closeup of the tenon, I have a hutch it's may be a two piece push tenon but can't tell from the angle of the photo you posted.
