The Parker Blue-Black Experiment

$imgres.jpg

So Doug stated he has been having an Odd issue with his Quink BB ink, it was turning green, not in a good way at all either. I hadnt noticed this and checked an old work book and didnt think i saw anything funny going on, but with so many ink colours in that book its tough to say, So i grabbed three pens to ink up and a bunch of different paper to see if what is happening to Doug, will indeed show its head here, Or maybe Doug just has a bad batch. I encourage anyone with modern Blue Black Quink to join in and see if you can get the same results

Maybe we can get Doug to show a picture of what his is doing

My Pens here are:

Pelikan M205 Fine Nib
Danitrio Cum Laude Medium Nib
Pilot Parellel 6.0mm Italic

Ill load up my immediate pictures here, then follow up with after an hour or so, unless i see a change sooner, A change in ink colour here is what we are looking for, so i wont be monitoring times

Thread reference/link, please.

I use this ink quite a bit in my Kaweco Sport and, checking back months in my work notebook, I do not see any issues. Other than if I lick my finger and swipe, it's somehow still not waterproof :001_rolle

I don't have any pens currently filled with Quink blue-black, but I can honestly say that I've had no trouble with the new formulation. I do prefer the older one, though. There's something else I've noticed about it, though. I've seen some people's writing with the new blue-black and it looks positively blue, whereas mine resembles your examples above. Maybe there's a good bit of variation and Doug just ended up with the ugly green duckling

Look at my blue black review in the stickies what i used there had come out really blue... but usually what i get is what's above...

I looked for my old sheet but can't find it though

I just got a bottle of this ink from the Goulets today. Said to say, I cannot ink up a pen with it tonight to try it.

After some back and forth PMs with James, I went to FPN ands found several references to this phenomenon. Some folks like it, I was surprised, maybe they like teal fade.

Here's a pic I lifted from there by member lws. This is exactly what mine was doing.

Ill keep the pages around for a while... I'm sure the thread will fall away but if it takes a month then we will see

I Found my original sheet for the review I did, it has darkened a bit but still very much blue black

Interesting. I really got to find me a syringe and blunt needle to refill these cartridges. I have the same ink that you had sent me. Where do you find the blunt needles?

I know some pharmacies carry them

the Goulets have them in the pen cleaning section on gouletpens as well if you cant find them locally

I noticed this with something I wrote and left at work. Not so much with the stuff I have written and have laying around my room. That work kitchen is full of skylights and fluorescent lights. Not so many lights in my bedroom.

I'll try to find some written down ramblings and check the color but I just cleaned my desk off before trash day...

I use a sharp needle. No problem, as long as you are a bit careful. I bought it for next to nothing at the local pharmacy.

Regarding Quink blueblack; I've never seen that turn green.

It is more green in person. Pelikan BB nib. Haven't looked around the house yet for any older writings with the ink. Like I said, that one sits out in sunlight via skylights with lenses and flourescent light.

Exactly what happened to me. I purchased a sample of Quink Blue/Black from Goulet. I inked my Metro with F nib, looking forward to using the Metro from the good publicity here in the Nib. My sample in my test pen absolutely writes in blue. Like Pelikan Royal Blue. Maybe it is the combo of user and pen.
