The Non-hobbyist restore/rescale picture thread (not official hobbyist for B&B)

After hours of sanding off this blade during countless of conference call where the other end is wondering what makes this weird statics noise, I finally cleaned up this blade: A nice vintage thumb-notchy David Issard.

Now rescaled in Ebony.

^Very Nice!

Thanks for posting, so I could find this thread.

Here is my first try at scales. I wanted to use stuff around the house and I considered this a trial-run, so I am not going to be too hard on myself, this time, for the many mistakes. Ended up using something from beading materials for the washers.......Got a LOT to learn. Just glad I got some scales on this C. Congreves now.

I found this Duck Duck very dirty, but with good fundamentals.
I opened it up today, clean up the blade and the scales and re-pinned it.

Seeing the inside washer, I regret not replacing them with something smaller.
But those were the one it had when I received it. Does not mean they are original though.

Owner finished George Britain blade. Mammoth ivory and scrimshaw by yours truly. Wedge of reconstituted amber. Borrowed artwork, I just put it into scrimshaw. More in my gallery

Gotta love that Badas$, Maritime Lady Justice. She's part Siren.

Very nice work from The Big Easy!

I've been experimenting a lot with nice wood for scales. I'd like to eventually get more into inlay, which I find very difficult.

Here are a few attempts with Amboyna burl from Craig Stevens for a MAB Dwarf Razor I picked up recently. I have also included some blue Lacewood and Pink/Black (Cottonwood???) You can see the progression in finishing. Would appreciate any comments/criticisms.

Beautiful, stunning, stuff. Expect to see the finished razors. ?? You might have to give up your day job. :thumbup1:
Cheers!

Hi.
I ama very glad that i found this razor and i didn't damage it during restoration process.
Early production Puma 91 High Class. Unfortunately scales where damaged and i couldn't find a way to fix them. Then this idea came up to my mind. Scales are made of pieces of original scales and ebony glued and pinned to aluminium sheet.
