(Oh, I see. The reply quote only shows so much.)
Please bear in mind, that I do need to get my practice in :wink2::

The guard smooths/stretches the skin in advance of the blade, which then requires NO PRESSURE to slice the whiskers off.

Of course there's plenty ways to get nicks, I was just referring in particular to DrStrange's (from his description above).

It's a lateral slide caused by hesitation.
Since I've identified the circumstances, I don't do it anymore.
I've only done this with straights.

I think we’re all pretty close on “weeper” being a smaller, pinpoint cut. We could get closer on what to call a more severe pinpoint cut:

I might say “I had several weepers and two _____s” and everyone would know that the weepers went away and the other kind did not.
Idk, “bleeder” maybe? Or maybe “cut” will just have to do.

Googling “nick synonym” gives: cut, scratch, abrasion, incision, snick, scrape, notch, chip, score, gouge, gash, dent, indentation, flaw, mark, blemish, defect. I looked up “snick” and that could work, but just its similarity to “nick” and the fact that I’ve never seen it used here before ever means it’s probably not a good choice. Also, they’re not the right word here, but I’d like to see “gash” and/or “gouge” added to the glossary one way or another 😂.
