The Nib acquisitions for 2022

I started 2022 with a very nice Stylomine 303d. Why, it is yet another pen says the wife?
The filling mechanism is 'French' so nothing similar to others I have seen before, a bit like the Citroen DS of old when it hit the market.
It writes nicely, copyright of hooded nib is prior to Parker's 51, and the shape is 'chubby' but comfortable in the hand.

As you can see it uses an accordium sac, you fill it by pumping on the end bulb, glass encased, and when is full you can see the colour in the bulb. There is a breather tube inside the sac, a bit like the Parker Vacumatic.
Happy new year
Marco

I saw this and curiosity got the best of me. PenBBS 469.

How could I resist trying a weird double sided pen?! It is an eyedropper pen with each half having a separate ink reservoir as you can see. I inked it up with the medium nib (Voltaic Arc ink from Birmingham Pen Company) and the rollerball tip (Poussiere de Lune by Herbin).

I don’t consider myself the most discerning pen user, but it’s decent. Not the smoothest nib I’ve ever drawn across a page but the rollerball works surprising nicely. Will try the fine nib once I need to re-ink it. It’s certainly fun and personally I like the look.

While looking at unusual pen brands I bumped into this one, Big Ben. It is a Dutch manufacturer, not in business anymore. It started as 'Benzon Trading Company' in 1922 and Mr. Benzon was the importer for Wahl Eversharp. This is a 'Big Ben 15'. The seller said it didn't work, probably needed a sac. When I received it I tried the button filler but it didn't work. I took it apart and the sac was in good condition, new.
I looked at the pressure bar for a bit before noticing that it had been badly bent thus impeding it to compress the sac when pressure was applied to the button.
I bent it the right way tired the button and the pressure worked correctly.
The pen dimensions:
Length: 12.9 cm
Lenght uncapped: 11.6 cm
Lenght posted: 15 cm
I believe the nib is a fine but ever so smooth.

CORRECTION: Mr. Benzon started manufacturing Big Ben in 1930-1933
You can find piston fillers and button fillers. Piston fillers, I've been told, if don't work are difficult to repair.

3 cheap glass pens from Amazon to test inks.

Tried them on 3 different Noodler's and all worked flawlessly. No running, no dry spots, lots of writing with 1 dip. They even came with individual plastic cases. $20 shipped for 3.

I'll probably use these for signing cards too

Remember to forget me!
Sometimes it can be incredibly difficult to NOT buy a pen!!!

I wanted a spare Lamy nib, in case I mangled up the one on the Wing Sung 3008, or in case a full strip down and deep clean didn't resolve all the issues. I also needed a Fisher ink cartridge. Just over a tenner for the pair. However, if I added a Special Edition Red Ignite Parker IM for £14 (reduced from £45) to nudge the order over £20, as a Valentine's Day offer, they'd throw in two free 30ml bottles of Diamine Ink (Passion Red and Violet).

Even a tight wad like me can't refuse a £45 pen and £6 of ink for £14... delivered free!

My father in law dripped off a tote full of old drafting supplies, as our son is starting to get an interest in mechanical pencils/lead holders etc.

There were a few "ink" type items that I'll display in the basement with our other antiquish pieces.

The coolest thing I found was a Pelikan Pen Cleaner in box. I don't know if it's going to be decorative or if it will be of any use with today's pens.

The order arrived today. I haven't tried the bottled inks yet, but did stuff the freebie cartridge in the Parker "Red Ignite" IM, and It's a very comfortable and smooth writer.

I decided I wasn't going to buy shaving stuff this month. I've already done shoes, so looking at the Nib couldn't hurt, right? I have two Parker 45 Flighters on the way. One with a stainless fine nib, and, the other with a medium 14 kt gold nib. I also ordered an extra medium nib unit in stainless. I only have one ink coming so far, but, am looking at others. Diamine Registrars is what I ordered. Now I want a blue.
