What's new

The motherlode awaits...

I am getting really twitchy waiting to get back home, because there is a treasure trove of shaving goodies awaiting my return! I kind of went on a rampage over the past couple of weeks hoping to kill off various ADs for a long while (and if you guys see me buying stuff, STOP ME!) Whether or not that's successful...well... But, currently clogging up my unit's mailroom:

Feather All-Stainless
Muehle R106
Merkur 11C
vintage E.A. Berg straight (for motivation! :biggrin1:)
Chubby 1 in two-band
Duke 2
Semogue Owner's Club
New Forest 2201
200 Feathers
100 Astra Platinums
10 Iridium Supers
5 Lords
5 7 O'Clock greens
5 Shark SCs
blade bank
razor and brush stand
Muehle cream samples
P. 160 Tipo Morbido
Pre de Provence
Speick shaving stick
Pacific shaving oil
LL Bean travel toiletries kit

So yes, I'm insane. The good news ? Should be some new items coming up on the BST for you guys to pick over...

Enjoy a well-earned reward.

Then, realize you went to far, and as a gesture of self-control and repentence, send me the Duke. And the Chubby.

Wow! And my wife thinks I'm obsessed! Enjoy it all (but it's not all gonna fit in that L.L. Bean travel kit!).

Actually, I'm looking at travel bags. Why did you go with the Bean bag? I'm thinking a leather Buxton Dopp kit or the original Dopp kit.

This is the one I picked up, size small, color red:

I actually already have a dopp kit, a decent black leather job (not sure if the leather is real), but it's just the standard rectangular bag. I really prefer the roll-up/fold-up kind and something with pockets and loops so that everything has its place. I really want a Daines and Hathaway military kit, but they are insanely expensive, and the LL Bean one looked a perfect inexpensive, compact, and well-made alternative. I'll definitely post my impressions when I get it.

I wouldn't have thought you'd bat an eyelash at "insanely expensive" as a Feather All Stainless owner.

Well, on top of all the stuff I bought, it was certainly a bridge too far. And I dunno, it somehow seems more frivolous in my mind to buy what is basically a 200 dollar purse than a 160 dollar razor. I realize it's kind of ludicrous distinction, just the way I think of it. Though I have no doubt I'll cave someday down the road, just hope it's a long way off.

You could always unload some of that new gear to help fund the purchase. I also happen to think that everything Daines & Hathaway makes is gorgeous.

The wet pack certainly is. I imagine some of this stuff and some of my old stuff will definitely find its way back to the BST sooner or later, and then it's on.

Interested in your review of the new Feather all stainless.

Mind if I chime in? I got my wife the Feather Stainless DE and have been sneaking it into my rotation for the past two weeks. Fair is fair right? She was sneaking away with my DE before!!!

I've got it loaded with feather blades. First go using Red Pack blades was not great however loaded with Feathers it is outstanding. I really think it is designed to use these blades. The head is quite thin makes shaving around tight spaces a breeze and this DE only requires a light touch. You won't think it is working becuase there is very little drag (thin contact point and sharp blade).

I'm getting a second :)

I'm really hoping this is one of the ones that works out, I love the look. I'll definitely post my thoughts on it ASAP.

I don't think you are insane. Actually by B&B standards, you are a very sane individual.

And as if to prove your point...

Thanks for your feedback. I'm trying hard not to be impulsive with this purchase!
