You're missing a key choice here, and in my opinion, one of the mildest (but still efficient) razors out there… the RazoRock Stealth!

That's their new slant, correct? Anyone else think the RazoRock Stealth is less aggressive than the currently-leading Weishi? If so, I'll create a follow up poll.

Thanks!

I've never used a Weishi, so I can't comment on that, but IMO the RRSS should absolutely be considered in a discussion of extremely mild razors. Just my opinion though.

And yes, that's the new slant. :001_smile

I have tried the micro touch and asd2. I feel the asd1 must remain at 1.0 on the list. if you want to count ones that are no longer in production. the gap varied on the asd1's but some other geometry was different to the asd2 as well apparently. many people cannot even shave off 8 hours with the asd1. that is mild. if you pair it with a dull blade like wilk I don't think there is anything current or past that is as mild. mine only has a .023 gap. others have reported up to .030 but it is still milder than the ads2 even at that. a tech is somewhat more aggressive to give you an idea. the micro touch is a lot more aggressive then the asd1 but close to the asd2. I hope this helps.

I see your point about including the AS-D1. However, its unusually high variances in its blade gap (as you've noted) and likely high variance in agressiveness ... combined with it being out of production, leads me to a preference of removing it from the current list. That said, I hope that keeping the Muhle R41 (2011) on the list doesn't seem overly inconsistent. The 2011 R41 seems to be a clear winner as a high point reference, and although it is out of production ... I have not heard of loose build tolerances for the R41.

Does this rational work?

Thank you for your input!

Cheers,
Shawnsel

yes, that sounds reasonable. ten different asd1's might have ten different tolerances. so it would be misleading now that I think about it. that is why they came out with the asd2. they all should be at .029. when making a claim I agree consistency is important.

I will say the asd2 was too aggressive for me. I don't know anywhere else you could find .023 like my asd1. mine is probably as low as they ever went but they were all over the place. luckily I will not ever have to be replacing it due to build quality. most people that got one like mine couldn't even shave with it. so if it turns out to be .5 instead of 1.0 it is actually useless to most people. on the other hand it could be 2.0. so you made the right decision quite frankly.

What about my favorite razor, the Blue Tip Superspeed? Isn't that THE classic mild razor? Or are you only looking at modern razors?

In any case, good idea for a poll. Gives me shopping ideas!

Out of the ones I've tried so far, my vintage Gillette Blue Tip SS is the most mild. Its marked 00, and is a great shaver.

I don't see the Schick Krona, Gillette blue tip SS, or Tech on the list. Those are the mildest I've ever tried.

Is this only for modern razors?

This poll closes in 3 days (Thursday).

Please get in your votes to help increase our confidence in this poll's results!

It seems to be indicating that either the Weishi TTO (aka Micro Touch One TTO aka Van Der Hagen TTO) or the Feather AS-D2 is the very least aggressive modern razor.
