The Manchurian Candidate. wins the election

I've been lusting after a special edition Simpsons brush for a while now, and really wanted a butterscotch color to add to my brush collection. To that end I've been checking the Simpsons's site almost daily to see what they've got in stock. I happened on it a couple of weeks ago when a Special Edition Butterscotch Rover with Manchurian Badger was showing in stock. This was a brush I'd been looking at for a while anyway because of the size; I was very interested. Impulsively I added it to the cart and purchased it. I had a panic attack because it was $179 British Pounds which is like $285 US dollars. Totally ridiculous and irrational, but I did it anyway. Apparently I got the last one in stock too because it immediately showed to be out of stock after I bought it. The next day I received an e-mail from Simpsons stating that the brush I bought had a defect in that the imprints for the names weren't deep enough for the paint to hold properly and it wasn't up to their standards. They apologized and offered to refund my money. They also said if I still wanted the brush as is, they would give it to me for $100 Pounds/$150 US dollars inclusive of shipping. I accepted this discount of close to 50% and held my breath waiting for the brush. It came today and I love it. Its a great size for control of lather on the face; more fan shaped than my Milk Churn for good painting on my face, and excellent flow through of the lather. And as a bonus, they threw in a whole tin of Simpson's Luxury Shave Cream as well as a surprise at no cost. That really made my day! So my first shave with the new brush was with the cream, which was really nice as well. I was quite happy with the customer service provided by the company. I do think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship!

Great story, and a very nice brush. I've been lusting after a Manchurian butterscotch too, but when my time came to impulsively pull the trigger, I went for a Chubby 2 in Super instead. Somehow, in the heat of battle, the price of my Chubby seemed like quite a rational alternative to what I was contemplating, and in a wine-tinged fit of bravery I clicked "confirm" before I really knew what'd happened. I couldn't be happier with what I ended up with, and it leaves me with something to lust after in the future. I think the way Simpsons dealt with the "defective" brush issue was terrific, and it seems like you ended up with quite a good outcome out of the deal.

Enjoy the Rover!

Sweet!
I had my eye on that particular brush ever since it popped back up on the LE page. If only I had known about the 'defect'....
Great score! The Rover has a great handle and Simpsons Manchurian is an excellent grade of hair.

I think the faded lettering combined with the butterscotch handle gives the whole brush a vintage look! Awesome deal!

That was my first thought, also. I was wondering when Simpson's started selling vintage brushes! Very nice brush and an excellent bargain. Congrats!
