What's new

The magnificent seven!

So my new roll arrived and in pops my seven straights.
So Monday to Sundays shave-

Wade & Butler (Olive wood)
Henkel
Thiers Issard
Wade & Butler
Dovo
Wade & Butler (South American Bocote wood)
George Wood (Rams horn)

Very nice TI roll and a great set of straights to put in it. Are you going to use them like a 7 day set?

Indeed I am. I figure, the rotation from left to right should make for longevity before having to think about the honing issue. I have a nice Dovo strop and a piece of balsa from Larry Andro (www.whippeddog.com/) which has red and green powders either side for a bit of extra fine honing.

Winner,winner......

BTW, isn't it amazing that Hollywood has not tried to remake this yet?

Its only a matter of time........

Thinking about seven day sets, i reckon the advantage of a mixed set is being able to try different blades from different countries. They all tend to feel and shave differently.

Yeah and you have to hone them differently and use them differently too...a set only a true master could love!

Nice razors but the magnificent 7 are:

Ouch
Jim
luvmysuper
johnniegold
Timmyboston
AACJ
Gruder

a good effort, but the REAL seven are:
Kambei
Katsushirō
Gorobei
Shichirōji
Heihachi
Kyūzō and
Kikuchiyo

and beautiful roll by the way.. is the olive wood scales significantly heavier than the others?

Off topic, I know, but the two movies are entirely complementary. They are both at the top of the game. I am sure that Kurosawa was flattered by the Hollywood remake of his western tribute film.
