Just curious, how would you compare the Rockwell T2 SS to the Tatara Muamasa? I currently have the Rex Ambassador XL.

I would consider the T2 stainless to be a mild adjustable thats really easy to use and smooth. I really actually enjoy using it. The muramassa is also a mild shaver and super nice to use. Both razors can get me BBS with no effort. I didn't get on with rex ambassador being blade forward. I prefer the konsul.

I too tried the Konsul. Didn't work for me. I am sure it is because of technique. I didn't have the patience to keep playing with it so I went with the Rex Ambassador. And that is a learning curve also.

This "magnificent 11" stuff started popping up on my YouTube algorithm, and I wanted in on it. Had to revive a slightly old thread to do it, though.

1. Style Choice
20231102_172733~2.jpg

The European vibe, nice chrome, and incongruous knob of the Progress gets the vote for my most stylish.
2. Budget Friendly Choice
20231102_172835~2.jpg

Found this Merkur 34C HD at a Burlington three years ago for $5. It doesn't get friendlier to the budget than that.
3. Under Appreciated Choice
20231102_180646~2.jpg

The Fatip Piccolo is certainly my most under-appreciated. I know it has a cult-like following, but for me, the angle needed to get blade engagement on my face is just so radically different from any other razor I own.
4. Premium Choice
20231102_173217~2.jpg

This Timeless Bronze is my most "premium", based on cost and materials. It is also very aggressive, but I recall the company website language coyly trying to downplay that. Mine is ready for a bit of Brasso, a rag, and toothbrush.
5. Sentimental Choice
20231102_173630~2.jpg

This Parker 99R isn't mine. It is my stepdad's. I got it out of his medicine cabinet for this photo. My Christmas gift to him a few years ago, and it marks the only other person I converted to DEs. He uses this, Astra greens, and canned goo.
6. Versatile Choice.
20231102_173510~2.jpg

Versatlity pretty much demands an adjustable in this category, so I pick the Fatboy. Mine, still having its case, was a good choice recently as a travel razor.
7. Classic Choice
20231102_173954~2.jpg

Currently, it has to be this Cold War Soviet relic. A "Rubin", I think it is called, although it has the word "voscod" on its black case in cursive Cyrillic. Cast in raised letters on the back of the case is the price of ten rubles, fifty kopeks. A bit of a luxury expenditure in the 70s-80s Soviet world.
8. Daily Driver Choice
20231102_173541~2.jpg

The stainless GameChanger .68". A very mild--to me--razor I could use daily...if I shaved daily rather than every other day. I really have to screw up in order to get irritation or blood out of this.
9. AutoPilot Choice
20231102_174126~2.jpg

The good ole' Tech. This one is my most photogenic example. I interpreted this category to mean a razor you could shave with, absent a mirror, or just half paying attention to what you are doing.
10. Aggressive Choice
20231102_184141~2.jpg

Gillette Old Type. Aggressive. 'Nuff said.
11. Cannot be Ignored Choice
The Vikings Blade Emperor Augustus. It is big. It is heavy. I figure this would make a good travel razor to places like Beirut or El Salvadore. Keep it in a sock. Somebody kicks in your hotel room door, you can blackjack them with this boat anchor of a thing. Sorry, looks like I can't post an 11th image.
