What's new

the long lost shaving cream forum

Am I the only one who slowly but surely has stopped going to the shaving cream forum? It occurred to me recently that when I first joined B&B I was probably using that forum all the time, but now if I do it's generally because I click the wrong link. The soap cult is very alluring.

Most people that get into soaps tend not to go back to creams. I used to use cream exclusively but now I only have a tube or Proraso for when I'm in a rush.

While we can't easily find empirical evidence of most claims made about soap or cream we can safely say that (most) soap lasts a lot longer than cream, which is an attractive selling point.

Another serious post from Chip? WTH! You already exceeded your quota for the month. So, please edit this post with some sarcasm and/or humor.

When I first started DE shaving, I got into soaps because it was so different from the canned foam I had been using. So I never really had an interest in creams. I did a sampler from Trumpers and tried their Rose cream, which I very much like. However, that exercise confirmed for me that I'm a soap kind of guy.

I used to use creams exclusively when I first started, too. But I soon saw the error of my ways. The only creams I keep around now are Speick (for when I'm in a rush) & Nancy Boy Signature (cause it smells so freakin good!).

I apologize for my errant logical pontification. I am currently reviewing the events of the last 24 hours in an attempt to isolate the issue.

soapstone? how caveman.

Your comment made me cachinnate.

You know, I was just thinking the same thing.....

Perhaps I should share my findings with you and Rich for a peer review.

You should definitely try at least one cream, just so you know what you're missing. If it doesn't work out you can always sell it on the BST.

Indeed, you're starting to sound like Jesse with the school words.

personally I am finding that I am not into glycerine soaps though. For me its gotta be either a triple milled or I am going to a cream.

I started out with creams and tried a bunch, but so many of the higher end creams irritated my skin, so I then moved to soaps and I don't think I will look back much at all. I enjoy the lather process more, and get a closer shave with no irritation and the soap itself doesn't bother my skin like so many creams do.
So I am a soap guy...it's official now.

Thanks,
J.
