The Lamy

So I always see Lamy Safaris or Al-Stars when I look at pens or watch videos but never owned one. I got my Safari in the mail today and fell in love with it! This is the smoothest pen I have so far (I have 2 others that were more expensive). I'm on the hunt now for that neon green Al-Star! FPAD in full effect!

Toothpick

Needs milk and a bidet!
I've got one in red. Glad you enjoy it, but as soon as I get another FP this one is on the back burner.

I dislike the "finger grips" the most.

Fridays are Fishtastic!
They make a great gateway pen, and, for me, have never failed to write- even after sitting for a month unused (I have a hard time NOT carrying my Pelikan M200)

I left the cap off for a full day and picked it up and after a few swirls on the paper it came back to life. They are indeed a great pen for the price.

As long as you can get past the grip, and I understand why some can't.

First fp I purchased 2 months ago was a Lamy Al-Star...blue. Just ran out of the blue ink cartridge and loaded up the converter with Noodler's 54th Mass! Both perform wonderfully...got them from Goulet

The grips didn't annoy me at first... but now that I've brought it back into the rotation I can't stand it.

Mine will probably end up on the B/S/T once I get a handful of pens that I want to get rid of.

I bought one to try my first bold nib. It's ok, but the finger grips are a little annoying to me. I have also had some problems with it drying up even with some really wet ink. I have tried to tune it and clean it the best I could but it always takes a few shakes to get it started after taking the cap off.

My safari has never failed to start. Although the fine nib is a bit scratchy compared to other pens I have with fine nibs it's a rock solid performer.
As far as the grip is concerned, I like to think of the Safari as I would The Veg... You don't choose the Safari, the pen chooses you. (Thankfully it does not smell of cat urine and broken dreams)

YES, the fine nib is quite scratchy, especially for a lefty that tends to push the nib rather than pull. The medium nib helped a bit with that.
