The Kent BK which never was

When I acquired a Kent BK2 which looked like Mount Vesuvius from the top I decided to try my hand at restoring it.
The Kent BK2 and BK4 differed only in that the BK2 had grey badger bristles and the BK4 had silvertip. I decided to install a TGN finest two band XH for something novel.

I'm glad I did.

I call it the BK3:

Looks good to me. I was thinking about Kents and really like my older V23 in Pure. I read that KEnt pure is infact silvertip, is this right?

In my limited knowledge it seems that all Kent brushes are marked "Pure" no matter what grade they are sporting. At least tha'ts the way it is on the BK series.

Yes that is true. It's most likely because many manufacturers in the old timey days made brushes that were mixed boar/badger.
You'll see a lot of old brushes labelled "pure bristle" or "pure badger" to indicate that the hair is all the same type.

It's actually because olden time badgers often led hedonistic lives full of sin and acts of depravity. The best badger makers realized, that much like anthrax, there was a market for brushes guaranteed to be free of these undesirable attributes. Therefore they kept a small collection of badgers on the right path. These "pure" badgers instead led lives of peace and quiet contemplation on their place in the universe. Free of desire and wickedness in their hearts, they were then dropped into boiling vats and skinned whilst still warm to guarantee their "pure" hair was unsullied by the stench of death. This is the origin of pure badger hair.

It must be like Virgin Wool.
