So my son Seth who is a carpenter brings me wood from time to time.(Hudson River mahogany and schoolhouse special Walnut) and other stuff.
Brought me some interesting wood from a shipping pallet , there was something in it that caught his eye.
Rejected at the sawmill from being used as furniture or something else pretty it was reduce to being used as pallet wood . It is maple and not very thick so I knew I had to glue it up and hide the joints. The red color is from veneer that I had .
Still on the lathe and needing more thin coats of CA

Sorry if this is out of place. I tried to PM Graydog but somehow the message is closed and he can't read it. I have a piece of cherry wood from the trunk of a tree in my yard that died. It is from the graft union area so it may have some characteristics of burl. I gave the trunk to a friend who tried making a bowl but there wasn't enough usable wood and he returned that chunk to me. It is about 5 1/2" in diameter (roughly turned) and 3 1/2" tall. Would you like to see if you can make anything from it?
