Always liked these razors for some reason.
Again, a basic break it down , polish the blade and scales. Make it look like new.

Mark, I'm glad the blades made it into this thread! I was going to make a post on my own if you hadn't, such beautiful work. HUGE smile on my face right now. "WOW" was the out-loud expression.

I received a request for a customized shorty.

This is the result:

Gold lined black acrylic scales, Shanghai tip, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon heel, JimpNotch, fluorescent orange wedge, double swoop worked back. I also accentuated the smile a bit.

Gutsy stuff there Seraphim! The Hidden Dragon heel is just naughty! That's what, 3/4" of metal gone from the blade to make the heel? Brilliant! Nice short blade, I like the way the blade seems to extend out and away from the tang some.

Thanks.

It's about 1/2" shortened.

That thing is sexy Seraphim! Nice work as always! I need to get into doing the GDs. I bought a 208, and am considering buying a 300. Though I don't want to put as much into them as you put into yours. Do you have a tutorial thread anywhere? :)

This is the tutorial thread it's an excellent "how to" by Bill Ellis.

I simply failed to heed his admonishment:
Let me add here that using one of those small dremel cut-off wheels isn't the way to do it. Using them is not only very obvious, it's my opinion that it is also tacky, hardly ever accurate, and originates right down the street from an Oklahoma trailer park.
And have been happily grinding ever since.:thumbup1:

Also, I included some info in the first page or two of this very thread you are reading.

According to his whois data, he's out in California. How can a guy in California possibly talk smack about Oklahoma??? :a30:

YES! Thank you.
Everybody knows it's those Texas trailer parks you really have to look out for. I'm afraid I speak from experience.

Origami strikes again

I built this one tonight and enjoyed the scales especially. The blade cleaned up nicely. But the scales which are made out of Pink Ivory with faux Ivory inlays were fun to do. I also added brass liners for the black horn wedge for added interest.
A point I fussed a bit over was to get the Black horn wedge, the brass, the Ivory and the leading edge of the blade to intersect at one point. You can see this in the side view.

Why?

I don't know,,,, I just had to , that's why. Seemed a good enough reason to fuss over a little detail in building the scales. Made it more interesting than just slicing out some plastic slabs of some sort. I also curved the inside of the wedge nearest the blade so when you look at it, the white ivory seems to sweep into the curve of the inner section of the wedge and keeps the blade that much tighter to the wedge without interfering with it.
Also,, the brass, the wedge and the Ivory all match up directly opposite each other on each scale. This drove me nuts but I enjoyed it.
The scales too are bookmatched though you might not notice. When I sliced them I matched up each piece so the grains would match.
Well, anyway,, here it is.
By the way,, the dust you see in the last photo is dust on the lens of my camera reflected in the blade. It's a nice clear finish I think considering what it was.

more shots of the blade. In the 4th shot you can see how the "sweep" of the inlaid Ivory intersects with the brass and then into the black horn wedge and how the edge of the blade intersects at this same point.

I also like the idea of the "wedge" inlay, at the wedge end of the scales for a wedge type blade. In my mind it all seems to work somehow.
