The Gillette Fusion Challenge?I accept!

Hello all,
I was gifted a Gillette Styler for my birthday which included a Gillette Fusion blade to attach to it.
Also included in the gift was Gillette Shave Foam ,Gillette Thermal Face Scrub, and Gillette Fusion Intense Cooling post shave balm.Ever since seeing the Fusion commercials and other claims that the Fusion can give 5 weeks worth of shaves,I decided to see for myself just exactly how many shaves I can get from one cartridge using it every day.I usually do WTG,XTG,and if needed,Across The Grain. So for the next 5 weeks,or until the razor starts showing signs of wear and starts getting too uncomfortable,my shave routine will consist of nothing but Gillette, including:
Pre- Shave:Wash face with the Thermal Face Scrub
Shave Prep:Gillette Foam
Post Shave:Ok,here,I may cheat with using my usual alum block or witch hazel before using the Gillette Intense Cooling Balm.I may use a splash of Gillette Cool Wave before the balm.It depends how comfortable (or bad)the shave is.
I will be beginning this tomorrow.I will try and report my progress each day like how bad or good was the shave. How bad I did or didnt tear my face up and other experiences.
Wish me luck! =D

My cartridges always lasted quite a while actually.. I'm super cheap when it comes to things I don't care to invest in (cartridge shaving was one) (Traditional Wet Shaving is a different story, I blow loads of cash already ) I've noticed that running my cartridges along some jeans a few times it kind of honed them nicely.. i'd always just push it down my pant leg a couple times after/during shaving it always cleaned the blades out nicely and gave a good polish.. I'd use blades ridiculously long with no rust marks and no build up.

Good luck to you sir! You're a better man than I, I can't go back ;)

You're braver than I. I get exactly three shaves from a Fusion Proglide and then it's razor burn city.

I'm up to 12 shaves on my Fusion Proglide Power and every one a BBS

Good luck with the challenge

I've lost count of how many shaves I have on my Schick Hydro 3. I haven't bought a pack of refills for it in a couple of years and I'm down to the last cart that I put on about a year+ ago. I'm certain it's well over a dozen now as I use it about once a month.

EDIT: No canned foam though. Only top quality lathering products. I only use it on days when I'm really in a hurry and do a quick lather with a shave stick and my hands, which is still way better than the canned stuff.

Im going to mark on the calender in the case I do skip a day. That way I can keep track .Im not really sure about using that edging/detail blade on the other end .

Don't be afraid to ditch the canned stuff and make your own lather.

ouch.Hopefully it doesn't end that fast for me.lol. if I start getting really bad irritation ,I'll probably throw in the towel. But I'm going to make sure I prep my face the best I can before I glide that multi-blade beast across my face.

I use a fusion daily. Each cartridge lasts me at least a month, and I usually do two passes, one with the grain, and the other across the grain for a great shave.

I do use a brush and shaving cream (currently AOS Sandalwood) for no other reason than I prefer the scents compared the the canned stuff.

If you have good technique (and assuming you don't have super sensitive skin, etc), you can shave with just about anything and get a good shave.

+1 I thought I was the only who did that (back in the day). I didn't even know the meaning of the word dull, I would just keep shaving (quickly) until the lubricating strip would disappear...then I might've considered changing out the cartridge, LOL!

Ha! Yes! I don't miss those days at all.. Every time I used my last razor I would just dread having to go spend an arm and a leg for 4-8 cartridges.. Thats all I could force myself to buy at once cause I was a cheapskate haha. But yeah I definitely wore those suckers out. Its all about the denim drag lol.

3 passes for me and then a little touch up, I find in the tricky areas it's best to turn the razor over and use the single trimming blade, this also works well if you have a few days growth and the razor is pulling.
I put the gel into a bowl and dip the brush into it then do the face lather thing, better than putting it on you hands then putting the slightly foamy gel on the face.
I use as little pressure as possible and the power thing is getting better, shave and a massage 2 bits!
13 Shaves on blade #1 still BBS
I use this nice Gel, Made in New Zealand

Good luck man! The rampant ingrowns and severe, multi-day razor burn of the Gillette Fusion ProGlide is what drove me into the arms of the DE seductress. I think the Fusion (and even the Mach3 that preceded it for me) cut way too close for my skin.
