The Generosity of a B&B Member

I absolutely love Bay Rum. Whether its now Captains Choice AS, Masters Bay Rum AS to Burts Bee's Bay Rum soap...even Col. Conk's soap. It really seems like I just can't get enough of it.

I've heard about Mike's Natural Soaps on many different threads, but this particular thread caught my eye. I read the entire thing...and was convinced. I needed to try some of Mike's Bay Rum. Throughout the thread, it was suggested to order some samples at his very reasonable cost. I looked into this, only to find out he was sold out. Sold out of the bar, sold out of the tin...even his samples were limited for Bay Rum. Obviously this guy is doing something right for this scent. I emailed him directly asking about it's availability, and I heard nothing back. Ugh! Stuff happens, no big deal. Guess it will have to go on the wish list....

I briefly posted in the thread he was out and didn't respond. Oh well I thought. Not 12 hours goes by, and I get a PM from "MilkyLee" letting me know he had an extra bar, and tin, and he would be willing to part with it if we could work a trade or purchase out. I opted for the purchase and the PayPal transaction completed. It's on its way as we speak with a tracking # to boot!

I wanted to share this experience with the forum simply because MilkyLee didn't have to reach out to me....I'm sure there were a number of people looking for Mike's soap at the time. He didn't have to give up some of his stash...but he was willing to. Generosity. Sharing. Thoughtfulness. It's the kind of thing we all appreciate about B&B but this was a perfect example of it going down right inside my own Message Box! I couldn't be more stoked.

MilkyLee, thank you. I'm excited to have a go at this well-reviewed and obviously highly sought-after soap. I appreciate your willingness to share, and hope some day I can return the favor to you.

There are many generous shavers out there willing to share their experiences and good fortunes with their shaving tools.

I have blades mainly Voskhod,Rapira,Permasharp and Polsiver Super Iridium that I often give away to friends just to keep them in the shaving game.

If I was in the US i would love to PIF but the postage charges from Australia kill the momentum.

I just wanted to comment on the generosity of our members. I had an African American friend I wanted to get into traditional shaving. When I asked for some good product suggestions I ended up getting over $50 worth of new product sent free of charge. I have also been offered other free products in from my posts is the mess hall. Our members are top notch!

I'm blown away! If the tracking from USPS is correct, the package was delivered today. From Montana to Florida in 2 days?!? Hope so, can't wait to shave with it this weekend. Thanks again Milky.

I think it just shows B&B is a unique place on the internet. So much support and friendliness and all are welcome. Its a great place to come day in day out. I love the generosity of the community and all my dealings on the B/S/T have been very amicable and all items have been fairly priced. You couldn't ask for a better community to be part of.

I think you hit the nail on the head right there, the members here think of Badger and Blade as a community, not just some forum on the Internet. Therefore we treat each other like friends and neighbors and foster a very real bond of a shared community.

I remember when I first joined I posted asking for advice on products since I am on a students budget and didn't want to throw my money away. I got some great information, but I also had two incredibly generous members PIF me a razor, blades, and several soaps and creams. I am really grateful to them because not only did it get me started with traditional shaving super fast, but more importantly it showed me immediately what it meant to be a member of the Badger and Blade community.
