What's new

The Future of Shaving revealed?

What do you think Gillette or Schick's next big move will be?

More blades? Less blades? Micro blades? Lasers? Where do we go from here?

I say they will stay with 5 blades, but make the blades thinner. Oh, and they will incorporate mineral oil in there somewhere also.

They'll probably continue with multi-blade carts, but start making heads and handles styled after the good ol' techs and superspeeds.
After all, retro is the new "new".

Most likly cart razors will focus on the moisturizing strip. They been doing this for years already, but it could turn into war. My picks:

Fusion Sensitive: Strip with for "sensitive" skin.
Fusion Moisterizer: Strip with super moisturizers. Same product just hype
Fusion Organic: Strip with all organic ingredients.
Fusion Hypercut: Strip infused with Nair

And the Gillette Auto Hypergamalon Supreme:

Tired of lathering before you shave. Our Gillette scientists have formulated a new handle that will dispense our special shaving hydragel comes out of the handle just prior and in-between the blade while shaving. You can track you razor with any handheld device using a GPS connection. The charging station is a state of the art with wireless connection so you can track your blade on your computer for service at our Gillette retail stores (Formally Art of Shaving). You can download the new Gillette apps to track your blade and when shop and our store. Find out more at Gillette.

It will be a ten blade that vibrates- the only catch is that you have to keep putting in quarters to keep it vibrating just like a cheap motel bed. Unfortunately the Gillette man will also need to come to your house from time to time to collect all of the quarters.

The upside is the blade will last 4 days now instead of the normal 3, thus allowing them to continue saying it's the 'Best a man can get' per their legal dept.

They will be priced at around $19.99 a blade for a total cartridge cost of around $200. There will be a 1-800 number on the package that allows you to directly reach a Gillette loan and financial planning expert so that you can afford to shave for the year as well as find some crumbs of food should you have any money left over.

Some sort of bio-degradable/recyclable/edible "Green Razor" would be my guess. With at least 12 blades and 5 nutrient rich moisturizing strips. And a handles available in a variety of shapes of dinosaurs, to remind us that we are headed for extinction if we don't use these razors.

there is a new fusion but its still a 5 blade.. supposedly less tugging and some sort o different aloe solution on it or such.. and of course, more expensive!!!

I love this "new thinner blade" angle. I would imagine it came about in some kind of exchange like this:

Pres: These blades are costing us too much to produce. Our profit margin is now only 999%; I want it back up to 1000%.

R&D: We could make them thinner. Thinner blade = less steel = equals lower production cost.

Pres: I like it. Now, how do we spin this?

Marketing: We tell people that thinner blades tug less. Less tugging = more comfort.

Pres: F-ing brilliant. That means, not only will it cost us less, but we can charge more for it. Two birds with one stone. What about coatings. Can we add more coatings?

R&D: Sorry, boss. We've been touting coatings since the Turbo. I don't think they'll buy it. But I can throw some mineral oil on there. They might buy that.

Pres: Works for me. Make it happen. And make it sound like it's a new razor. I don't want people thinking we're making them pay more for the same old crap we've been foisting on them for the last four years. OK, I'm off to the golf course.

Don't skip the last 'graph: that's where the meat is.

The launch includes four new products to use before and after shaving, including a thermal scrub Taub says will mimic the effect of a barber's hot towel. They'll sell for $6.99 to $8.99.

That's P&G at work: this is where they live. "What, you're only selling handles, cartridges, batteries, and gel? We ought to be able to tie at least four other products onto the brand!"
