The Enabling/Enablers' Thread

Do you need that little extra push to make a purchase you're not quite sure about? Feel like discussing B&B's most notorious Nib-related enablers? Do you just enjoy enabling others?

Well, you're in luck now that The Enabling/Enablers' Thread exists!

So, go on and buy that pen, ink, paper, journal, blotter, or inkwell. After all, it's amazing, a really good value, and, of course, you deserve it.

Tell us what you're considering. Our acquisition consultants are standing by.

Whats an enabler,

by the way sorry to hijack your thread, but now that your writing letters Andy have you looked at wax seal kits yet ?

sorry back to what you were talking about

Brilliant, Andy!

"it's amazing, a really good value, and, of course, you deserve it."
NIB version of "the 3 biggest lies?"

Fountain pens and ink can save you money (It really can), It wont (inevitable truth), but with all that savings you can buy more (works for me, but probably not for a swmbo)

I have no idea what constitutes an enabler, James. I've just seen the term bandied about here in the past.

I'd have to see a wax seal in person first, James. They don't interest me, really ("famous last words" sort of response seen here often).

No worries about hijacking and derailing in this thread. That's sort of what it's for and what I had in mind, so long as it's generally nib related. Go nuts.

Andy, you can resist James on this one. He has sent me some wax seals in the past. They look amazing and are cool as all get up, but for some reason I just don't want one for myself.

Edit: I'm probably gonna get an angry letter from James now...

I think we should do a Whippeddog " sight unseen " starter deal, Nib style. Doesn't Brian have a couple hundred buckets of pens laying around? We could all go in on a 5 gallon bottle of Noodlers ink and make samples. Couple reams of paper and we could enable this entire site....

Wow want a journal has anyone checked these out yet ?

I want this, and all of you guys should too

I think you're right, Ed. I like the idea, and it's cool that they make flexible wax now. I just don't really see them as something I'd mess with. It's more pen-related clutter, too. Pen, ink, and paper clutter is fine. I dunno if I'm up for anything beyond that. I'm doing good to put the letters I write in an envelope, then mailing them.

Those do look like cool notebooks, James. I didn't know about all the little accessories that are available for them.

Just two Pelikans. I like the blue swirl more than the gray... Blue hasn't shown up yet. I stuck to my pre-set limits and didn't bid war it. Not that I didn't think hard about a m400 that went for cheap comparatively...

I ended up with an outstanding gray swirl that I love. I have a blue swirl on the way, and I expect to like that color a lot, as well. I'll probably keep both. Another Pelikan arrived yesterday, and another should be here in a week or so. I'm done now. I swear. For a long while! I stuck to my pre-set limits, paid fair prices, and still bought too many Pelikans (if there is such a thing). I saw the M400 I think you're talking about.
