How to make the soap on the island?

Best to plan ahead. Pick a island with hardwood flora and well fed fauna. Bring a stainless steel shaving mug. Boiling campfire ashes in water makes lye. Stir in some rendered animal fat and you've got yourself a tallow based shaving soap.

For ease of use and high efficiency, either a vintage Myatt Daymark, or modern Karve SB with F or G plates.

It would have to be the Feather ASD2. Lots of time available for achieving a close shave and a low risk of acquiring an infection due to a cut while deserted and waiting for the Uber Eats.

The GBS Heavy Duty DE Slant Bar Safety Razor


At 142 grams, it could be used as a sledge hammer to open coconuts. And if any beer bottles with the old style non-screw caps float ashore, it looks like it would make a handy bottle opener, too.

Anyone know if you can use this GBS to actually shave?
