What's new

the bon vivants companion

I just got a digital copy of this old bartending book, 150 years old I think. There is a measurement that is abbreviated do. for a quantity of booze to add. Does anyone have any idea what this stands for? I am at a loss I have googled it and asked several of my drinking buddies and no one has any clue. Thanks for the help.

Not sure if this is right, but apparently it refers to a 'dose' - normally used for things like bitters - a 'dose' is a shake.

Would that fit?

Haha, yes, I just got that also and was wondering the same thing! My friend finally figured it out, but if he didn't I was going to come here too!
