What's new

The Body Shop Maca Root

So I picked up a tub of this stuff today for a really good price, and I am pretty impressed so far by this cream. I've never bought it before, because the sample tub in the store is always hard and doesn't smell very good- not bad either though. When I got my new kit home, though, I noticed the cream has a really nice composition and an almost floral scent :thumbup1:. I'm happy with my test lathers and looking forward to tomorrow's shave. Any other love for this stuff?

I have to say, I didn't give this one a fair chance. The old Body Shop shave cream seemed to be a love it or hate it product, and I loved it. When I tried a sample of the Macca Root, I only thought it was way different from the old cream. I need to try this one again as a new product with it's own merits.

It was my first cream when I started traditional wetshaving and I find that it dries out my skin a bit more than other products. I didn't care much for the scent either although I admit it was unique.

It's too early for me to pass judgment since I haven't tried more than 3 shaving cream/soaps :p

I've been using it quite regularly...pretty decent job at cushioning the blade...produces a nice, thick lather...the only issue I have with the cream is that the more I use it, the less I care for the scent...price is pretty decent for a largish tub of cream that lasts for quite some time...you really don't need a lot to get going...

I find that TBS Maca is really cushiony and makes a lather that feels wonderful. I don't find the scent offensive, though not my favorite. It leaves my face feeling moisturized. My only complaint is that I don't find it to be as slick/lubricating as some of the other products I've used. Otherwise, a nice product that can be had at a B&M store in many locations.

This was the first cream I used when I started wetshaving over a month ago. I thought the scent was pleasing, very clean and fresh smelling. It lathers pretty well and provides for a good shave. At $10 for the tube and $16 for the tub, it's not the least expensive cream out there, but certainly not the most expensive either, and is a good deal with any discount or coupon the Body Shop regularly has going on. Even though I don't have anything bad to say about it, once my tube is gone, I don't think I'll rush out the door to refill the supply, just because I feel there are other products that need to be tried.

So, in a short thread we prove the theory that YMMV...

I find it to be the slickest, longest lasting and thickest of all the creams I have used..

This is good stuff - we had a deal over here, 3 for 2, plus discount coupon and with free delivery which made it a bit of a steal.

Its my go to cream when I'm in a rush... quick swirl, not too much product and plenty of water - this is a thirsty cream! But one I can whip up a lather with quickly. I wouldn't go for a 3T cream when I'm in a rush - it would be a waste!

Not a scent I go mad for but not one I hate either.

Its good enough that I'd happily pay full price for it.

I have to say, guys and gals, that I'm really impressed with this stuff. Ths scent is nice, the cream is moist and rich and I found it to be a really smooth shave. I'm glad I picked it up!

Beginning of summer they had a 3 products for $30 sale. I bought three tubs of the cream. At $16 a tub this stuff is good but at $10 a tub it is unbeatable. :thumbup1:

I picked up a sample pot from the nice lady last night. I had to teach her how to make good lather to demo, but I was quite impressed with it so far.

Trouble is, at $25 a tub, its getting toward the luxury end of the scale.

Thats just the way it is here.
eShave cream is $34 here ( I got some on clearance, otherwise I wouldnt have some ! ) and so far, I'd put the macca root on par with it. Thats quite a positive appraisal.

But with proraso around $10 or $12, and Cade at $17- $19, its going to have its work cut out to win me.

Got the shaving kit (cream, aftershave, synthetic brush, and a travel mirror) online for $20 +$5.95 shipping + tax. Not a bad deal at all.

I payed more than if I would have actually set foot in the mall to get it, but I'll gladly pay $7 to avoid driving to the mall and dealing with parking and crowds, and then hoping the item is actually in stock.

I got mine for cost when SWMBO worked for them so I cannot complain about the price. As for the product itself, I am happy with it. It is on par with TF&H for me and similarly it's scent is not too over powering. So, two thumbs up from me

The rest of their mens range is good too, the Maca Root Razor Relief and Face Wash are definitely worth trying.
