No, it's not a new Eric Roberts movie.

What do you consider to be your all time favorites for razor, blade, cream/soap, aftershave, and cologne? I'm not for a minute suggesting that these items should work together harmoniously, nor is this meant to be a wish list for a dream shave. Rather simply, which items do you put at the top of these five categories? For me, it would be-

40's super speed
Euro Gillette blade
D. R. Harris Arlington cream
Musgo Real splash
Hamman Bouquet

That was so hard it made my brain hurt. What makes your list?

Razor: Merkur Futur
Blade: Feather Platinum Blade
Soap Brush: Simpson Chubby 1 in Super
Cream Brush: Simpson Polo 10 in Super
Best Overall Brush: Simpson Persian Jar 3 in Super
Cream: Salter's Fresh Mint
Soap: QED's soaps...pick a flavor, they are all good
Aftershave: CAR Hydrolast Lime/Green Tea
Cologne: Badger and Blade

Well, the fact that they don't have to work harmoniously is a plus... though, I may try the shave in the end anyhow.

Brush - I don't know if I have found "the best of the best of the best" (TBOTBOTB) yet, but so far my Trafalgar Shop brush (the only brush I have used other than my C&E travel brush).

Razor - Again, I don't know if I have found TBOTBOTB but I really like my new Merkur Progress. As with the brush, I have only tried 2 (the progress and a Merkur HD).

Blades - So far TBOTBOTB has been a toss-up between Merkurs and W-Swords. However, I have not yet tried some of the more highly rated blades (feathers, derbys, Euro Gillettes, etc).

Cream - T&H W.I. Limes (honourable mention to Proraso - love the "coolness").

Soap - Taylor's Sandalwood.

AS - Proraso Splash or Baxters Balm (both applied after some Thayers)

Please Note: The above list is not set in stone and may change at any time with no notice (for instance, when I get and try new and better products)

Razor: Merkur Slant
Blade: Derby
Cream: Penhaligons/ Nancy Boy
Soap: Floris JF
ASB: Baxter
Cologne: ? This changes Daily
Cheers, DJ.

Thanks, NMMB, for pointing out that I left out brushes!:blushing: :blushing:

Somebody please smack me.

I literally get dizzy when I contemplate the cornucopia of having goodies I have; it is hard to choose. For brushes, though, it is easy - my Savile Row 3124 silvertip. Nothing else like it. For razors, nothing beats my Futur with Derby blade. As for creams and soaps, too many damn choices. I love them all. Aftershave? Harris Milk. And colognes? I'll give you my top five:

  1. Penhaligon's English Fern
  2. Penhaligon's English Fern
  3. Penhaligon's English Fern
  4. Penhaligon's English Fern
  5. Penhaligon's English Fern

Too hard to choose between what I have in stock. Here are 5 that stand out, though:

2. C&E Sandalwood
3. John Varvatos
4. Taylor's Mr Taylors and St. James (tie)
5. L'Occitane Vetyver

What happened to the English Fern?
Will the real Scotto please stand up.

1 Merkur Vision
2 Bic DE blade
3 Taylor of Old Bond Street Avocado
4 Truefitt & Hill Ultimate Comfort A/S balm
5 DKMEN (Hasn't been manufactured in ten years so I use it very sparingly)
