I have a bottle and use it occasionally. I find it fine, with a neutral scent as opposed to other witch hazels that have a strong(er) w.h. scents.
There was a big discussion on this board whether Thayers can call their product 'witch hazel' due to their unique way of making it, but that's a different matter. Try it, it's inexpensive and you can be the judge if you like it.
edit: Forgot, I think the addition of aloe is beneficial although it seems a little stickier, which is expected.
There are a number of different options.....and I've tried two: the astringent and the "Superhazel". I'm not sure what the difference between, say, the astringent and the aftershaves are. Superhazel is supposed to be a treatment for skin irritation and contains camphor. Its also slightly more viscous.
Fine products!
I use the Thayers Medicated Superhazel with Aloe Vera formula and am delighted with it.
After the shave, I rinse with hot water, dry, and apply a small splash of the Thayers. Cleanup follows. Then I rinse with cold water, dry, apply another small splash of the Thayers and top it with aftershave balm. Finally comes the aftershave splash or cologne.
I just bought some Dickonson's from my local DS along with a tube of cooling Aloe. I combined the aloe (half a tube) along with about 20 drops of Eucalyptus oil my buddy had. The aloe dissolved after a few good shakes. The Eucalyptus took out any and all witch hazel smell which is a good thing. I have been using it strictly as an astringent but will try it as a post shave treatment. This stuff really works awesome and I use it all over my face applied with a cotton ball. I'm sure I not the first person to do this but thought I would throw it out there for anyone interested. Very good skin care with no burn and good cooling effect. Highly recommended.
I use it all the time, alternating with T.N.Dickinson's (which does not have AV). I use it immediately after my shave (before my formal AS), and often before bed as well.
