Thater 4125/3 2-band - The biggest soap hog of them all?

My new Thater 4125/3 2-band has surpassed my Rooney 2XL as the biggest soap hog I own. I timed myself - I started building lather after 60 seconds of loading, but ran out between pass #2 and #3 and had to re-load for about 20 seconds to build enough lather to finish my shave.

I am guessing that a Rooney 3XL or a Chubby 3 might be in the same class.

My Thater 2-bands flow like a river. With my Rooney XL I just give it a little squeeze and have plenty of lather for the 3rd pass.

It will break in and loosen up after several weeks of use. I love dense brushes, and have done my best to try as many as I can. The only two brushes I have found that are problematic even for me were my brothers Chubby 3 Supper (mine was less so) and my Rooney Heritage Stubby 3 three band. Both of them were a solid brick of hair that refused to bloom much less give any real amount of lather back after even months of use. Save for these two, I can get a good lather from just about anything (Chubby, Stubby, D01, etc).

Personally I much prefer the constant flow of thicker lather a properly broken in "lather hog" gives while face lathering. Sure some brushes throw more lather at your face for a pass or two, but its much harder to get consecutive passes with equal coverage IMO. My later passes tend to suffer with such brushes, in reality the last pass should use the best quality lather to protect you during the XTG pass.

On a side note my XXL has great flow threw, the flex in the hair seems to help flow threw. I love the brush and its density, but the knot has just enough flex to separate the hairs and keep capillary forces in check. Its a whole different beast than the three band's.

My 49125/1 seems like it has endless lather in it. Granted I typically use it exclusively with MdC, but it gets the job done with pretty much any soap with lather to spare after 3 passes.
