Thanksgiving shave

What is your Thanksgiving shaving plan? Thanksgiving is a big family day at my house, so my goal will be a smooth, comfortable shave. I'm thinking I'll start with a generous clovey bay rum lather, lather-enriched by a touch of VDH soap and applied with a soft badger brush. While that soaks and softens the beard--I'm on vacation this week, so I haven' shaved since Sunday--I'll load up my slim or fatboy adjustable at 7 or 8 with a new Astra SS blade. After 3 1/2 passes I'll probably skip the alum and go right to an unscented aftershave balm. Finish with a drop or two of sandalwood essential oil.

:shaving:

I thought about this for a few weeks. Since I rotate my soaps weekly, I thought about this probably too much. I was originally going to go with bay rum, but I decided against wearing it since I'm in charge of bringing over the apple pies. And my apple pies are already going to smell like bay rum (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php/319450-Bay-Rum-Apple-Pie!).

So I decided to go with I Coloniali this week since (to me) it smells like the holidays and is one of my very best soaps. I'll probably wait to shave until about noon and use one of my GEM razors and a liberal amount of I Coloniali ASB and skin conditioner.

I've already planned out Christmas...Frankincense and Myrrh. What else??? :biggrin1: The weeks in between there will be lots of bay rum and cedar.

Going to get a fresh haircut then load up some 1805 cream and face lather. New feather blade on the DE89, 3 pass DFS not going for a BBS but if it comes that will be great. Just looking forward to the pumpkin pie.

I will be using my TI Sparticus, Rooney 3XL brush, and Irisch Moos stick.

Too much to do on Thanksgiving. Both sides of the family will be at my house. Thanksgiving will be shave free. And Black Friday also.

what ever soap comes up in the rotation with my barberpole DH (my only razor), if I shave at all that day. We are responsible for the turkey this year.

Seems odd that the family that is vegetarian got tasked with cooking the turkey?

Fridays are Fishtastic!
ER1912 loaded with a CVS carbon steel blade, DR Harris Arlinton soap, Semogue1460 brush. Aftershave will be witch hazel, cologne will be T&H Spanish leather.

If I am allowed to shave (SWMBO likes the stubble), it very well could be a Merkur HD loaded with a Russian blade (Astra SP, Voskhod, Rapira),
my father's shaving brush restored in best by Rudy Vey and Ogallala Bay Rum Soap.

Shave or not, I will apply a scent of my wife's choosing - either Polo Red, White and Blue or Avon Unscripted.

I'll probably skip Friday and Sunday, try to get in a quick travel (i.e. cart) shave on Saturday.

This morning I discovered my new definition of luxury is using my Semogue 1305 (Italian Barber LE) with DR Harris Arlington soap. I'll repeat that on Thanksgiving and use it with my EJ DE89 razor and a Polsilver Super Iridium. I'll pick out an AS on the day of.

William's mug soap,
Omgea boar brush,
Merkur 34c,
Derby blade,
This is my go to bbs combo and I will finish it of with a healthy dose of Pinaud Virgin Island Bay Rum.

Not sure - gonna be in the mid 70's here. Might have to go with Proraso.

But then again, it is fall and Tabac is always a good choice.

I am in the process of moving, my GF left me few months ago, and my parents are both in hospital. So, I'll be alone for the holiday. So, I think that I will be going to the 24HR "alkathon" that AA is hosting the next town over. (I usually go to NA, been clean since 3/18/2000, but NA isn't doing any holiday events this year)

If I do shave it is either going to be my GEM 1912, or my Merkur 45 Bakelite. GEM PTFE SS blades if it's the GEM, a Shark if it's the Merkur. I'll be using my TOBS lavender cream and either a vintage bottle of Yardley AS I have, or Clubman VI Bay Rum. :)

Have a safe and happy holiday ladies and gents! Enjoy yourselves, but don't forget to call a cab if you end up celebrating too much!
