TGQ Sandalwood

I just received some TGQ sandalwood soap in the mail today. Great Googly Moogly! This stuff smells awesome. I haven't used it yet but I have yet to find a soap I don't like. I have used Mama Bear's sandalwood and found that scent to be close to TGQ's, just a bit weaker. I have also used C&E sandalwood and did not care for the scent, or the lather for that matter.
Given the fact that TGQ and Mama Bear use FO, I was wondering how much these smell like actual sandalwood? Am I in love with a fake scent that smells nothing like the EO?

If you like the scent, I dont' see the problem.


FWIW, my guess is that you ARE in love with a scent that bears little relation to actual sandalwood. Actual sandalwood doesn't smell all that great, IMO.

Outside of getting sandalwood essential oil if you can get your hands on some QED Sandalwood soap you'll know what true sandalwood smells like. Most sandalwood shave products, aftershaves and Colognes have other scent components added - or no sandalwood at all They are merely interpretations of sandalwood.

And yes, the real deal is an acquired taste.

I thought all of Colleen's soaps at TGQ were scented using pure essential oils blended together, not artificial fragrance oils?

Since sandalwood is really hard to come by she uses an FO.
Used it for the first time today and it is definitely a keeper. Works as well as anything I have ever tried. And OOOHHHH the smell!

I beleive some of her soaps use EO and some use FO and that what is in each scent is documented on her web site so you kow what you are getting. Not sure specifically about the Sandalwood but you should be able to dig it up.
