TGQ Leatherneck and Desert Ironwood

Ive been looking at TGQ soaps for something a bit different in my rotation. It seems like the two best scents are Desert Ironwood and Leatherneck. What do they smell like? How do they perform? Why dont I hear more about them?

Desert Ironwood smells like...heaven...in the Desert! Its hard to describe but its by far the best smelling soap I have in my rotation...and that includes things like Pen's BB, Proraso, DR Harris Arlington, SCS Bulgarian Lavender, AoS Lemon etc etc.

It lathers like a traditional glycerine based soap...thick and heavy and doesnt last as long...but SOOOO well worth the price. I also have Leatherneck, which is also good but IMHO "softer" and less distinct as DI.

I was going to say that Desert Ironwood smells like Happy Gilmore's "happy place" looks...but that seemed over the top...

i just ordered both of them...they are both heavenly too! they are just manly-*** scents with desert ironwood edging out the leatherneck ever so slightly....the desert ironwood smells a lil of patchouli and musky sorta i think, the leatherneck smells very much like a nice worn leather jacket...they are both a steal at the price and perform very well, im going to be getting more stuff from tgq in the near future!

I have tried both the Desert Ironwood and Leatherneck and several other of the offerings from TGQ. The Desert Ironwood is my current favorite and is simply fantastic, all are great performers and are at a great price. I also think the Blackberry Sage and Savon de Campagne are incredible, more floral, but great to have in the rotation. I think they are currently on sale as well!

I got a sampler from TGQ for my birthday that I have slowly been going through. The first two I tried were Highlander and Leatherneck. They were nice scents but nothing that got me really excited. Then I tried the Desert Ironwood, :001_tt1: wow what a great scent. I was very psyched because to me it smells like bay rum. I love the smell of bay rum but everyone I have tried has always bothered my skin. Now this doesn't have bay in it but to me it smells like it does. Another winner for me is the Oak & Moss. I like to pair this with Speick aftershave.

I feel that lather well and are very slick, but I don't think they hold that lather as well as a Mama Bear soap. However, I will be definitely buying more of these two scents.

I have the Savon de Compagne and the Provence Lavender. Both are superb soaps. They lather up beautifully and I haven't had any problem with the lather dissipating. For non-tallow soap the lather is very creamy. I used the SdC this morning. Love it.

I have all of her current soap scents except for Orange Patchouli, Provence Lavender, Sandalwood, and Savon de Campagne (although I've used the cream version of that one). So far the only one I actively dislike is the Cavendish Black. I'm just not that into tobacco scents. You should know that her scents are VERY strong, and I've caught whiffs of some of them (particularly the Desert Ironwood) long after my aftershave's scent has faded. If you like strong scents, you really can't go wrong with TGQ soaps.
