What's new

Test tubes

I'm new to wet shaving and got the idea from the forums to use a test tube rack as a razor stand. A refinement I haven't seen, though, or maybe I've just missed it: Test tubes. Like, put test tubes in the rack and put razors in the tubes. The tubes give the razors a nice little boost in height above the rack, they protect them from splashing and other terrible things, and they generally serve as nice little unobtrusive frames. One tip: Plastics. The glass ones can be pretty brittle. Either way, though, they're like a nickel per hundred online, and they fit almost everything. (My Merkur HD is a tiny bit fat so it still hangs in a stand.) The tubes seem to work especially well with Vintage Gillettes (see below).

Science!

Great Idea! I just hope those test tubes have not been used in any viral experiments :001_tongu

Lookin good, there is one thing to keep in mind though, if the razor is put in here wet and the water drips down it may pool up and not dry very well. This will lead to excessive moisture in the tube which may promote rust or corrosion. If you are using the plastic tubes you can always drill a hole near the bottom to allow moisture out.

Regards
Dave

I got this idea from someone here a while back. Here are my daily shavers in a test tube rack. It is from the 1800's from the UK. Didn't think of using test tubes too.

This was my first thought.
