Terre d'Hermès Parfum Price Question

Got a sample of Terre d'Hermès parfum yesterday, and I was instantly smitten with the scent. To my nose, it's quite different than the EdT and the longevity is amazing. I'm definitely considering the purchase of a full bottle.

However, I'm little confused about pricing.

At stores like Sephora, the parfum comes in two sizes: 2.5 oz ($118) and 6.7 oz ($210)

However, on the Hermès web site, they have a much better price: a 1 oz bottle AND a 4.2 refill for $135 - http://usa.hermes.com/perfumes/men/terre-d-hermes/fragrances/terre-d-hermes-23620.html

Does anyone else feel like that deal seems too good to be true? So in a store, it's $118 for 2.5 oz, or for an additional $17 you can get over double the amount of parfum if purchased online?

I want to be sure it's the exact same parfum that I sampled at Sephora. The bottle looks different, but it's a smaller size and perhaps has a different design. I called their customer service line, but their rep was clueless.

Anybody else ordered this parfum directly from the Hermès web site?

I see that the site does offer a 30 day return policy, so I guess I've got nothing to lose if I decide to go for it.

Do you actually think Hermes is selling fake products on their own website? It is a different bottle because it is a 1oz refillable travel bottle.

No, of course I don't think it's fake. I was more concerned that it was a misprint or that there was another variation of the EdT vs. Parfum of which I wasn't aware.

To clarify further, the Hermès rep I spoke to on the phone first said that she thought it was a different product than the parfum sold at the store, because it was the "natural spray", but then she changed her tune. The conversation left me feeling a little uneasy about the purchase.

Pardon me for being skeptical, but it does seem like a shockingly good deal compared to the store price. I'm perfectly happy to have the smaller travel bottle.

It is a great deal. I don't think "natural spray" means anything in particular. It is printed on tons of bottles. I would say with 99.99% certainty that this is the one you are looking for. I say order it. If for some bizarre reason it is not the same, I am sure Hermes will let you return it, no different than how Nordstrom or any other high end retailer will let you return perfume.

I tend to think you're right and probably will place an order. I just wanted to post here first for a sanity check. That Hermès rep's response did not inspire confidence.

There's only two versions - the EdT and the Pure Parfum. Go with the better deal on their website. The term "natural spray" is only an indicator that it comes with an atomizer. The bring that additional clarity because many companies that sell pure parfum concentrations do not provide atomizers.

Price per ML for the 6.7 oz bottle comes out to $1.04 per ML and the 5.2 (4.2+1.0) choice coming in at $ .87 per ML. Pretty good deal!

I would throw out there that you may give Montale Red Vetyver a shot before committing to the Hermes. The Hermes is a fine choice, however and I would definitely opt for the parfum concentration.

Rather sounds like my experience (pricing) with Chanel Coromandel. Least expensive place to get it was from Chanel; less than ebay and less than department stores.

6.7oz for $146.44 on Amazon (sold/fulfilled by Amazon) $22/oz (free shipping)

so 5.2 for $135 $25/oz (shipping extra?)

not a bad deal on either

It's cheaper from Amazon, but I'm going to buy from Hermès. That Amazon deal says it doesn't allow returns. I'm not worried about fakes with something sold directly by Amazon (as opposed to some unknown vendor selling through Amazon) but I am worried about how fragrances are stored. I just had a bad experience with one of the online discount fragrance vendors, where I got what I believe was an authentic fragrance that was improperly stored. It had the right smell, but was very faint and didn't last as long as it should have. The vendor was very apologetic and gave me a full refund, but it's made me very cautious about ordering fragrances online. From Hermès themselves, I have fewer worries. Also, they do accept returns just in case I had a problem.

I'm going to backpedal on what I said earlier. Eat my words even.

I dug out my juice after posting that last statement and sprayed my left arm with TdH Parfum. Sprayed my right arm with Red Vetyver.

Now 7 hours later the Montale has faded to but a skin scent and the TdH Parfum is still pounding.

I liked the top notes of the Montale better. Seemed to be a bit more natural, but at this stage of the game, I have to say that the Hermes has outperformed it during all but the first ~30 minutes.

If faced with the decision, I'm going to have to say I may be voting for TdH on this one.

I bought the same Td'H Pure Perfume refillable travel set (1oz. + 4.2 refill bottle) from NeimanMarcus.com a couple of months ago...free shipping. Love it!!!

Thanks for the tip! Looks like you just saved me $15 on shipping. NeimanMarcus.com still has the same free shipping deal.

Thanks for this info. I never thought about the possibility of a bottle with no atomizer. You clearly have more knowledge of the subject than the customer service reps for Hermès.

I did make the purchase, too. I really love this scent.

I've had an unhealthy interest in frags for a while now. ;-)

TdH is a great scent. Enjoy it!

TdH is an amazing fragrance, ever since it came to the stores I use it almost daily. It's a good deal too, enjoy it :) And it lasts a long long time, I give you that!
