What's new

Tennis anyone?

It was not to be
David called at 10:30 to say that he hurt his back moving furniture.
So no tennis today.
Yard work, house work, and now watching college basketball.
Maybe next week.

I’ll get it in.
Weather might be a factor
They are posting warming for another “ bomb cyclone” storm. High wind with heavy wet snows.

I lost 6-1, 6-2

What great therapy and fun!
Very rusty, but played reasonably well.
Forehand was erratic but my backhand was better. Serves started working the end of the first set. Loved it!
After our blizzard I’ll be back out there.
If it is coming your way hunker down.
The mountains are getting pounded.
Two avalanches reported this morning.

I'm on the east coast, so weather wise I should be safe. You stay safe as well!

Tennis wise, winning or losing is not nearly as important as enjoying yourself. Glad that you were able to do so!

Thanks.
It was fun.
This summer is for fun.
No tournaments.
Just enjoy the sport.

Once, in a doubles match, we came back from being down 0-5 to win 7-5 and 6-0. The opponents were riding a wave of confidence, and when they lost the first set they lost their way. Even when down I thought we were playing well, so it was all about consistency and doing our best to play one shot at a time.

You are so right!
Consistency is the key.
I’ll get better too.
There were good signs.
That’s whatVic Braden used to say;”Take good care of every shot.”

I’ve been offline for a while.
An Achilles flare up and family visits.
I’m rehabbing my Achilles and changing to a softer more cushioned shoe. (Prince T-22)
Chilly weather too. Late season rain and snows.
Keep swinging!

Completely understandable. I myself have arthritis, so I can relate. I'm looking forward to the French Open, as it starts late this month.

Thanks!
Working on it.
Softer more cushioned shoes really help. Back on court mid month.
Hit some with a friend and played about 15 serve and volley points.
Boy, did that feel good!
Won 11 of them.
Other than that, rehabbing.

French Open.
Wow! TommyPaul playing tough against Thiem in the first round.
I want to see more from this young American!

Indeed! He was hanging with Thiem very strongly from the baseline. A little more match experience and he could be a contender to go deep in tournaments.

I agree.
If he’s able to flatten out those ground strokes a bit, he could be tough.
I’d like to see him move in on his service return and drive the ball deep.
Hopefully, he has a breakout year.
